kinda yeah, i haven't done anything social in a month+ and i do my part.. but it's never been about people our age. it's about my 95 year old grandma and compromised aunt

my grandma lives in an apartment complex attached to a nursing home. they have completely stopped all visitors to the nursing home thankfully, but the nurses that care for her daily to help with washing/getting dressed come from the nursing home, not to mention their own home lives where who knows what they're doing.

my aunt works as a care professional for older folks as well. she had the whole week off for vacation which came at an ideal time, but she has to go back tomorrow. 2 weeks ago they cancelled all daycare activities where old people used to come for the day, but she'll still be forced to visit certain old people's homes to make sure they're doing ok, as well as general administrative tasks at her office

if this dutch government kills them because of this negligence in testing idk man

i've offered this idea but my grandma values her own humanity too much which i can understand

she survived world war 2 and many other horrible times

plus we're paying for the care in the first place so i don't think it's a realistic option as professionals can just do it better. she's extremely fragile already in the first place

honestly as these numbers continue to rise it's inevitable that someone will test positive at either the nursing home or 1 of the nurses so i'm mentally preparing myself for that and just enjoying the time i have with them now

i decided to stay in europe because of this and i'll cross the bridge to get back to the states if i need to

i just wish there was more certainty in what is going on as we all probably do

i actually applaud trump for holding these daily hours long press conferences, at least he's not hiding like it feels like the leaders here are doing
