I understand why some are Comparing this to 9/11 but I also don’t think it’s logical
The virus is obviously incredibly serious and accelerates the rate of death but I believe a good portion of deaths were due to covid and a number of other factors combined

9/11 took 3000 lives most of which that would’ve lived 50+ more years if it had never happened

People are comparing the political ramifications and overall effects on society. This is one of those generation defining events like 9/11 or the fall of the USSR, etc.

But the people comparing death tolls I think are looking at the two all wrong

I mean not necessarily. If someone is diabetic, obese or has respiratory problems it doesn't mean they're on the brink of death even without covid. People live long and full lives with some of these conditions. Even if you're talking about seniors, their lives are still getting cut short 10, 20, 30, 40 years too soon.
