NYC extended lock down till May 15th
I'm pretty sure when May 15th comes they will extend it again till June. They're expending gradually because if you tell people the lock down is going to go for 3 months people will start freaking out and panic but when you expend it gradually they will respond better.

Why ain’t countries taking New Zealand’s approach.

We’ve been in total lockdown for 3 weeks going onto 4!! we only have 1000 cases confirmed and 9 deaths. Our government are working effortlessly to keep this under control.

Next week our government decides if we can drop to level 3 which means we will still be at home but restaurants etc can do delivery or click and collect.

I get that New Zealand is a smaller country, but if America just put the entire country on lockdown it would make things spread slower

Think population density very different too

Well for one NZ's population is twice smaller than NYC alone

This president doesn’t understand all it takes is one person to travel to a different state to set it off again.

Good luck with your kickstart economy plan. How many stores & businesses are never opening again? 😒

    He doesn’t care

This s*** really happening b. Whole damn country splitting up because the federal government is so incompetent and doesn't give a s***.

    The final step:

  • Some Americans don’t care either. Willingly going out to protest amidst a pandemic is so stupid. But I guess I should no longer be surprised by that.

    NZ has competent leadership.

I remember how you guys dealt with the mosque gunman, your prime minister is one of the best heads of state in the world.

And the population size is not a big enough excuse. America is the richest country to ever exist in history. we have more than enough resources to have prevented thousands of deaths but instead our government wants to send Americans back out to work and straight to ICU beds

It isn't really New Zealands approach to begin with and there's a lot of reasons why you cannot directly apply it to the States, whether it be demographically, political, culture and what not.

There's a lot of unknown variables as well, it's a complicated mess no one has experienced before.

    The final step:

makes sense for them to do this tbh

New England and the west coast have already done it. Neighboring states have to communicate with one another and make sure they're all on the same page because of how contagious it is.

Memorial Day weekend is going to be f***ing crazy unless they lock s*** down extra hard.

Cases are coming in more slowly in LA now, even LA Times openly stated the peak is "probably" already here or past, but it would be stupid to erase a month of work.
