??? No one talking about this
Come w a better source and we might
The “it gets hot in Texas so we are fine” crowd looking like delusional c***s right now
So how many ppl still don’t realize if you take away NY’s numbers you realize the rest of the country not only hasn’t peaked yet but cases are still RISING
So basically whole country's f***ed ?
So basically whole country's f***ed ?
I mean its still tough to say
we will get a really good idea of where we are at for the next 3 months towards the end of May. there is just so much underreporting right now and states like Texas have been piss poor with testing.
damn what the f*** is wrong the us? new york isnt even reporting the cases today
god damn f*** this s*** seriously, we need more testing
So how many ppl still don’t realize if you take away NY’s numbers you realize the rest of the country not only hasn’t peaked yet but cases are still RISING
Because testing has increased by nearly double what it was, resulting in more cases and especially more mild cases.

Especially if NY is randomly going to report deaths and not cases for a day
Hospitalizations, percentage of positive tests, number of severe cases, recoveries, they all matter just as much as case totals in aggregate.
yoo what the f*** happened
752 deaths in NY
Unreported nursing home deaths retroactively added to the total, there was an article about it yesterday.

Jesus, that will never stop
Jesus, that will never stop
When at least half of all our deaths are happening there, probably not for a long time :(
Jesus, that will never stop
I think by the end of this we will see a large % of overall deaths are from nursing homes.
Partly because the vulnerability of the people there but also because of the way they tend to be ran (with contracted nurses that go from home to home)
In my city, like 90% of deaths are from nursing homes
They also brought in the Nat’l Guard to staff some of them because so many of the normal staff are sick 🤕
Deaths for the day were about 2,050 before that retroactive addition FWIW, 300 lower than yesterday.
UK reported a backlog today with a huge increase to 6,000+ cases.
Their hospitalizations and ICU dropped though.

Sure this was a backlog today?

good signs in a tough battle

Just telling you what I've been reading.
If you've seen the terms "reproductive number" or "r0" thrown around but don't understand what they mean, basically it's the number of infections passed along by one infected person. If the number is 1, the virus will replicate at a steady, predictable rate. If the number is above 1, the virus will proliferate more. If the number is below 1, the virus will slowly but surely die out on its own.
rt.live is a really cool way to illustrate the r0 of each state. As is so often the case, it's not the raw number you want to look at but the trends.
There's nothing particularly spicy on there; the lockdown has resulted in drops across the board, of course. But besides your own state, the thing to watch are states under the "reopened" slider. Texas has already seen a climb over the past couple of updates.
California is down to 0.83, good for 12th lowest in the country, which lines up nicely with the lower percentage of positives we've been getting.
The midwest is by far the most vulnerable part of the country right now. Nearly half the states are still above 1, which means they should not under any circumstances be reopened. The ultimate goal should be to keep the reproductive number well below 1 without a lockdown. They haven't even finished the first part.
