One really obvious point I want to nail home:

COVID-19 is not the flu. It is a novel coronavirus.

The Spanish flu was an H1N1 influenza strain.

    COVID-19 is not the flu.

COVID-19 is not the Spanish flu.

Do not use the trajectory of the Spanish flu to predict the trajectory of COVID-19 and expect accurate results.

Because COVID-19 is not the flu.

don't we know more about flu strains than coronavirus strains

for example: we have no idea how a human coronavirus will react to a vaccine

We do now, but our treatment options for the Spanish flu in 1919 were basically just aspirin and hot water even with relatively limited knowledge of this coronavirus, we have a better chance of treating it successfully than we did the Spanish flu back then.

Just hope the 2nd wave isn’t stronger, when it does die down this summer as long as we can keep it under control until the winter is over it would help
