I think the only reasonable solution would be to shut down everything for 2 weeks. Stores, work, everything.

Not feasible , but if we wanted to dramatically decrease the spread, that might be it.

wear masks and hand sanitizer and try to stay 6 feet apart obviously; that hurts no one. people who throw hissy fits about wearing masks are the worst type of people.

its not good to take millions of working class people out of a job and helps no one. the virus doesn't just go away while we're hiding away in our homes letting our immune systems get weaker and weaker.

only proven way to end a pandemic is through herd immunity. as long as we quarantine enough so that hospitals aren't overflooded and they have proper funding we can keep death rate at a minumum. Hospitals are nowhere near their capacity so there's no reason to be this strict about quarantine.

I don’t see how we can have millions of people employed while also quarantining “enough” though. A huge factor in the spread of this virus is the long time before showing symptoms. So even being really strict about not showing up to work sick (which is also kind of improbable because of American work culture) will still result in workers getting sick. I don’t see a way that employers can morally (or fiscally at some point) keep doors open in that case
