was just reading cnbc, both vaccinated people with booster shots and unvaccinated people are all catching on the new variant. all are having mild to moderate symptoms from what i’ve read
the good news bad news is, it currently doesn’t seem to have that harsh of symptoms, but if vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals are experiencing nearly the same symptoms, what does that mean for vaccine efficacy against this new variant?
if symptoms arent harsh that means there'll be less deaths / hospitalizations while the vaccine gets modified
Only 6 more years of this
If there is a whole new vaccine being made for it, I'm sure we are not heading towards better times. Dr Fauci's statement of Omicron not being more severe than Delta seemed like a half truth to keep the public calm. There seems to be a narrative being pushed that it's not as bad, but high contagiousness will lead to more mutations and a high rate hospitalization is better than death but not a good thing either.

Typically, as viruses mutate, they get weaker

Theres literally no reason to not make a new vaccine
Theres literally no reason to not make a new vaccine
There was no need with Delta.

when they say it's not that bad yall talk about a narrative to keep the people calm

I don't think keeping the general public calm is a negative thing. I just think you have to read between the lines with Fauci's statement.

I don't think Fauci ever speaks in absolutes, so people will always focus on worst case scenarios.
A friend of mine who I saw on Saturday just tested positive
I’m boosted and I feel perfectly fine but I’m shook now
Day 6 of getting covid (again)
The symptoms are more mild than the first time i got it. No flu and didn't fully lose my smell and taste like last time. Just weird feelings in my chest at night. Will get tested in a day or two. Lucky im at my home this time around so i could actually relax
I missed my booster appointment cus of this and I'm due for one
yikes, glad it’s mild though.
