I am not here saying covid aint real

just saying idt it is worth locking states down, and limiting social experiences at this point in the viruses life.

if one is afraid they may be seriously f***ed up if they contracted it, then they should use their own precaution as to limit their chances to catch it.

But further state wide action to limit the spread, at this point, seems over the top considering most people have implicitly signaled they no longer have covid top of mind, or do not find it as reason to not do certain things that involve crowds or gatherings of people

i think we should still wear masks when we think we are sick, but most people also despise wearing them now for whatever reason and so, its unfortunate that idea did not stick around in the states.

This. I think the mental damage a lockdown causes heavily outweights whatever you get from contracting covid

Long COVID actually causes damage to the brain's gray matter, causing increased risk for basically every neurodegenerative disorder. keep yappin tho.

    "outweighs whatever you can get"

you know you can die right? you know like 7 million+ people died?

they've said this since the beginning of the pandemic. without adequate masking, social distancing, and quarantine procedures; the virus will continually mutate and either infect more of the uninfected or reinfect those with compromised immune systems. only through a comprehensive zero-covid strategy can the virus be brought down to manageable levels.

    You're right

  • Jul 22, 2024

joe byron can't form coherent sentences, 3 cases of covid and him dropping out during the last one are all just a big coincidence

Until we open up the world again, things go back to normal and the whole cycle starts over. There is no realistic "zero-covid strategy". Especially when you have ignorant mfs who don't care about putting themselves and others at risk

it doesnt go back to how it was if you deal with it, which means comprehensive vaccination along with adequate quarantine measures for at least a couple months. at that point the virus becomes scarse enough to manage in the long-term.

you act like human beings have never managed to control a deadly pathogen before, its weird. and unscientific. I think the more likely reason for what youre saying is that you dont care or wanna be bothered.

You can't force people to take the vaccine though, you saw how it went last time. Same with lockdowns that last a couple of months if that's what you mean by "adequate quarantine measures". Especially now that we've been out of lockdown for years, it will be even harder to convince those people that strict measures are necessary

Today's society is different with the internet and all these conspiracy theory nuts being able to spread their views or be convinced by whatever conspiracy theory bullshit they see online. Plus so many people owning guns and looking for any excuse to use them in America

I just don't think there's a realistic solution other than what's going on now. Wear a mask if you feel the need to, keep your distance, sanitize etc. Protect yourself. But expecting all businesses and society at large to go through another 2020 is just not going to happen

Weird edit. You always saying some slick s*** like that, I'm genuinely engaging you here and asking what you think a realistic solution is. Keep that s*** on Twitter

I gave you a realistic solution. you can force people to do all these things actually, just like you can force them to wear a seatbelt or not make backyard gin and blow up their neighborhood. I know this bc we literally did force people to do these things and it worked. zero-covid also worked on a large scale in places like china until the ruling class decided it was time to "open for business" again. it very obviously works and anti-covid lockdown s*** clearly eminates from the extreme far-right. thats the company you keep when you don't take this s*** seriously in the way it should be. has nothing to do with "brainwashed americans" or whatever the excuse is.

"We did force people to do these things"
There was a large number of people flouting lockdown rules and other protocols like wearing masks and social distancing. I'm saying that if it were to be imposed again, you'd have an even larger number of people refusing to obey

Because people saw the effect it had on their financial livelihoods the first time and may decide the risk of catching the virus is worth it. Because there's the general perception that COVID is weaker and more manageable now. Because they may believe getting vaccinated years ago would protect them. Because they don't see the point after going through a lockdown, gaining certain liberties back, only to have them taken away again

Whatever the reason, I don't think COVID will ever cause another global shutdown like we saw a few years ago. I'm not too aware of the science behind it but could the complete elimination of the virus even be possible? At best you're hoping for lockdowns every time the infection rates increase

Crazy how people were so selfish to be like “oh I’m not wearing a mask because it’s against my rights”

    F***ing selfish dumbass
