Do you guys think they’ll extend all the closure periods? I feel like with the schools and shops them saying they’ll close for 2 weeks, they’ll just reopen them again when that period is over rather than extending it

Gov is paying me $750 as a student cuz the virus

No because cases will be exponential in the next 1-2 weeks

    Yes to the first question*

But authorities have to draw a line somewhere at least for western countries. They care about the economy and keeping the system flowing too much

That's how it started. Spanish flu's first wave numbers are even less impactful than corona and buts its second wave, well, you know the story.

    That was 1918 bro

    50-100 million dead in 1918

What happened with the same H1N1 pandemic in 09? 500k dead at most?

Pandemics aren't really "pandemics" anymore. Sure they may be global diseases and infections but it's no longer associated with wiping out actual percentages of the population.

imagine if the death toll for covid ends up being around the same as h1n1

no one will take pandemics seriously anymore.

But they can cripple countries as we have seen...

I don’t think he was comparing result, more so the behaviour of the pathogen
