VERY SERIOUS SITUATION FOR CHILDREN NOW
My friend works in the cardio dept for the nhs and they're only now doing staff fittings for hazmat suits. He said the staff themselves are very poorly prepared and the nhs isn't giving much guidance. They're just anticipating when they'll come face to face with a patient that has corona

this sounds reasonable, but everything else you ever post is absolute trash so i hope it doesnt last that long
I think the main point of it being a new virus is that the health system won't be able to keep up. Even if the mortality rate is low, the percentage of people needing hospitalization is way higher. Those numbers add up quick when anybody exposed to the virus can get it. In case hospitals can't keep up, the mortality rate goes up, not just among COVID-19 patients but others as well as there won't be enough people to take proper care of other patients
Also, with H1N1 of 2009 the percentage of hospitalized people was not anywhere near comparable to this coronavirus. From what I remember with this current virus the percentage of people needing hospitalization is in the mid to high tens. So the two have a different impact on society. You can't look at one virus and say the other will be just like it because of the mortality rate, there's other factors to look at as well.
That's all true. The greatest impact this thing has is on infrastructure and money.
There is no country in the world that is prepared to deal with an actual life threatening pandemic. There are no countries with millions upon millions of hospital beds. Tens of thousands of sufficiently staffed hospitals. Supplies for all health care workers. It just isn't possible.
It's better if people understand now that the health risk is not nearly as great for healthy individuals as most think because fear mongering and panicking does more harm than good. You can be cautious and prepare without blowing things out of proportion.
Are we dying yet
