the most reliable evidence relative to the US right now is South Korea which suggests a mortality rate of less than 0.1%

Believe it or not, the flu can also infect your brain, it's one of the sources of viral meningitis. Sinus infections can cause infections of the brain too if left untreated. I had a sinus infection for like a month around Christmas and was worried about that so I got some antibiotics and wiped the s*** out.
If viruses and bacteria get out of hand, they eventually cross the blood/brain barrier, but that takes a long time.
