tbf im only speaking for the uk statistics but this winter just gone (which wasnt as cold as previous years) we had like 50k pensioners die from cold causes.
im not here trying to say the corona virus is a conspiracy, its definitely worth taking precautions, but seeing as the percentages are only really affecting that age group, who are susceptible during the winter anyway?
im surprised that its got mass hysteria to this level, but im willing to be more educated. i know its more transmissable than sars (but a lower mortality rate). another point is that as a working class, its hard for us to not go to work indefinitely, get ssp. sometimes that s*** aint enough to cover bills and rent

Where you pulled that 50k stat tho? 18k americans die in a year because of flu if im not wrong. Atleast 32million illnesses total. You can do the math - 100k illnesses and 3k deaths (corona) for example.

for people older than 60 the death rate for this is very very bad....much worse than seasonal flu/cold

Whats even more worse is that if healthcare cant manage those old people they have to let very old and sick go and focus more on people who are bit younger and can later contribute something for economy. Add day to day emergencies also for them to handle. S*** doesnt look good right now.
