No Child Left Behind was the precursor to this, sure, it was bad but it's nothing compared to now: the Every Student Succeeds Act is honest to god the worst bill ever signed that effects academia. The fact that children can just 'pass' classes on the standard of 'being tested' is the demise of our public education system.

Highly suggest everyone read: reddit.com/r/Teachers it's just shocking what these people have to put up with nowadays.

    blonded

didn't you just do the same thing he did but basically say "it's the kids" instead

I was saying it’s more so the environment.

And these specific kids at that school have mental health issues Can’t blame them they still learning how to deal w/ it.

Go watch it it’s called ”last chance high” or something like that, the parents are actually putting forward some effort.

No, he's right. It's most certainly the kids which reflects on the parents. The system is ruined at this point: something happened around the last ~5 years (COVID accelerated it) where school systems put all of the pressure on the teachers. Administration wont do anything for - say "a disruptive child", parents will blame the teachers instead of their own bad parenting. Public education is collapsing right now in our country, even in somewhat decent areas now, political narrative too has seeped into the system.

You talking about schooling I’m talking about the kids behavior….

For example AR-AB said in an interview that his parents were strict + religious and he wasn’t broke or in need of anything.

He knew this as a child and still grew up to be one of the most wild/egregious self snitches ever.

And Why would these parents enroll their kids into a school for troubled youth if they think the TEACHERS are the problem?

Children aren’t stupid, and aren’t always pure of heart. At some point, they need to be held accountable for their actions and behaviors. If parents were 100% accountable for their actions, they’d be serving time for their juvenile offenses.

That's what I agree with. What's happened is that school administration doesn't want to blame the children and are extremely loose nowadays. Something in recent times is that parents have started to blame teachers, instead of their own children and refuse to take responsibility. There's some posts on Reddit r/teachers you should take a look at describing this bizarre shift.

We had a parent night at my school today, so all the parents got to come check in with teachers and talk about any concerns. I had one parent come in my room with her student, who I've had to write up three times this year. This mom looked me up and down, turned to her student and said "who's this?". I introduced myself and said "I'm student's science teacher". The mom and student busted out laughing and laughed with each other for almost a minute before the mom said "I know you don't have anything good to say, I'm not even gonna bother talking to you" and left. This is the same parent who has been ignoring my calls/email all year. Hello???? WTF was that???

    reddit.com/r/Teachers/comments/xewgol/where_is_parent_accountability

I'm so sick of parents not taking responsibility for their child's behavior. They don't care about their child doing nothing in my class, being disruptive, or being disrespectful. I have about five students that when contacting parents it's like talking to a wall. Meanwhile they're making my year f***ing miserable. I can take away all the recess I want, but they just don't care. I teach the 4th grade. How can you not care what is going on with your kid?! I'm over it. I'm over caring more than the parents, my admin, or anyone else in these kids' lives. I grew a reputation in my building of being a great and fun teacher. Well, four weeks into the school year and they've killed the fun in me. Now, I will go in, instruct, redirect behavior. But the fun is gone. No more jokes. No more review games. No more going out and playing at recess, just to get to know them. This is strictly I am the teacher, you are the student. End of day, bye.
