Street rappers losing that creative work ethic is why street rap doesn't get the respect it once did like Busta was a Hood nigga but his artistry was unmatched.
Once being a street rapper or hood rapper meant working with the same producers and not putting work into covers and videos it really killed they crossover ability.

Nah bruh it’s the influx of post Yeezus/TLOP Kanye fans
YB made some of the best music in rap from 2017-22 and he was stamped pretty much everywhere you looked but you f***s wouldn’t even respect him until he renegaded Tyler
Yall care about cute little cover arts and s*** like that sometimes even more than the music
a Carti stan accusing someone else for liking the aesthetics of an artist more than the music?
Let it die in the mainstream, Hip hop always gonna be around
Once it’s not what “looks cool” to hypebeast white kids we’ll stop getting all these uncreative losers that get hyped up for everything except the music
I get confused when people say this, the mainstream gave us Drake, Cole, Kendrick and so many legendary rappers.
Do you just not like them? Cause I promise you the kids listening to non mainstream music like those opium runoffs are white hypebeasts

Or maybe because his music is about as generic and formulaic as it comes?
Bro legit made a ripoff WLR
Nah bruh it’s the influx of post Yeezus/TLOP Kanye fans
Eh your post seem really biased and bitter tbh like that isn't a even a real response to what I said.
What does the influx of them have to do with street rappers no longer doing big music videos and covers?.
How would an influx of those fans account for the stylistic regression in street Hip Hops presentations?

Bruh you’re just talking. YB, Melly, Babydrill way better than Carti
Pop punk isn’t rock
I’m talking about Black Keys/Alabama Shakes
How is pop punk not a form of rock music?
are we gonna pretend that green day or blink 182 type s*** aren't rock bands anymore
Olivia got some rock songs that aren't pop punk anyway, like Bad Idea Right was more like wannabe Strokes
It's all style over substance now.
Lil Baby, Youngboy NBA, Moneybagg Yo, etc just all appeal to ppl from their city as the top dogs so its really just the idolization of them.
They can put out the same song 35 times consecutively but ppl from their city/hood always gonna mindlessly eat it up because of what they represent moreso.
But also at the end of the day... they mostly appeal to only their city/geographic area.
Ppl in Chicago not going crazy over Youngboy NBA. Ppl in New York not going crazy over Moneybagg Yo.
Rap is segmented on such a city/geo basis now cause mid-tier rappers who just get supported by their city off name basis.
Kanye, Drake, Wayne, etc all knew how to make club hits and foremost make music that actually had craft and wide appeal. This why they weren't only huge in their city and were superstars.
You aint lie it be crazy I click on a video of a rapper I never once heard of or seen mention and the mf already got over 200k subscribers and millions of views usually sum random southern rapper most times....
I remember in the 2010s thinking local rap scenes were dying off just for it to get stronger somewhere around the pandemic starting

Because they inherently see it as a lesser art form.
a Carti stan accusing someone else for liking the aesthetics of an artist more than the music?
I’m not even a Carti Stan. I just fw him
Because they inherently see it as a lesser art form.
But again what does that have to do with my statement? You're just ignoring what I'm saying to drop the same take over and over.
I get it you hate them but my post isn't about them

He renegaded Tyler and I still don’t like his music, I just don’t think his music is that great. That doesn’t mean I don’t like street rappers
Exactly, why are artists that try to be more artistic considered a bad thing to some people?
because “artistic” is essentially synonymous with indie hipster type artists like Danny Brown, Death Grips, JPEGMAFIA etc. and they don’t make music you can bump outside blah blah blah we‘ve been over that a million times
lowering the bar to the point where being “artistic” is seen as being a bad thing allows these dudes to get away with low effort performances and shoveling out 15+ song albums that largely sound the same or are just redundant
Man this convo really makes me wonder when s*** changed for street rappers
But again what does that have to do with my statement? You're just ignoring what I'm saying to drop the same take over and over.

Because it’s not about videos and s*** like that that’s all subjective. They inherently see that style as inferior.
That’s why whenever Tyler or whoever collabs with them they’re all like “wow he was able to make this guy sound good!”
Man this convo really makes me wonder when s*** changed for street rappers
Oh no they killed him
Its weird how people act like alternative (and indie) is separate from rock
You do have a point with some of these for sure but some of those like olivia, zach, noah, mitski, even Lana have made plenty of full fledged rock music
Rocks super loose definition will always make it annoying to categorize this
Couldn't find a source for the chart in the video, but it doesn't include alternative so I assumed they used the Rock/Alternative charts.
'What Was I Made For' by Billie is on there and I wouldn't call that Rock even the slightest
How is pop punk not a form of rock music?

yeah i feel like her sound is kinda more in vein with bands like the breeders and wolf alice than pop punk on guts at least
Oh no they killed him
Too late !
