@op really don’t want anything to do with this thread
Mans didn't just leave the thread. He left the internet.
this my favorite show/anime of all time so im praying it delivers
It looks campy as f*** so far and kinda fun. I would be OK with it if they went for a fun, flashy tone as opposed to the original's more somber, reflective tone.
john cho is 49
Got nothing against him but yeah that wasnt the wisest decision, especially since it kinda f***s up Spike's relationship with jett. At least this teaser got me interested in watching it, so its not all too bad in the end

Except it doesn’t make sense. The somber, reflective tone was justified because the main theme of the show is melancholy and nostalgia, the inability to get over an idealized past. And the show knew how to be fun, no need to get this campy.
the way john cho moves and emotes seems stiff but he at least kinda nailed the voice ngl, same with shakir. faye im just not sold on at all so far

I don't trust them to handle the serious moments properly so I would rather them just not even try.

Vicious is only in 5 episodes in the anime. Which all had that somber tone
The rest of the 21 episodes were very campy and ridiculous.

Haha yeah like that Mad Pierrot episode was so campy and ridiculous. Also “Hard Luck Woman” was such a ridiculous episode, man. Also “Ganymede Elegy” was sooooo ridiculous and campy man. ^^ XDDD
Nah, that’s bullshit.
Cowboy Bebop had some funny moments. Cowboy Bebop had some fun episodes. Cowboy Bebop even had some campy episodes. But ultimately it has always been about a bunch of lonely people who can’t get over their past mistakes. And this tone was reflected in the mise en scène. Watanabe’s directing never tried gratuitous over-the-top homages. He did include nods to the works he liked but the framing, the pace, the composition were always done elegantly. Cowboy Bebop is remembered for its atmosphere, it wasn’t a f***ing comedy show.
people complaining about the age of the lead actor do realize this is a continuation of the anime series rather than a remake right?...in which case I don't care if the actor is slightly older as long as his acting fits the character which so far they all seem to...I'm more concerned that I have yet to see Spike smoking so maybe Netflix were being lame about allowing that of all things...could explain that he kicked the habit I guess but it's just a signature part of the character IMO
