A lot of these dudes are sheltered tbh. Even if I was from a burb in the Chicagoland area majority of them s***s are like the hood. They think every burb is soft cause they not out there moving around their areas like they pretend to be. And they think it’s only stone cold killers in the hood because that’s the stereotype they’ve been fed through music and movies. If only they knew how many of these hood niggas they d***ride are straight p****.
Yeah, it honestly seems like some of these users just try to come up with this whole "you're a suburban cac" or TroyAveStan tier "suburban nerds" narrative to downplay someone's credibility or make users look "weak/soft". But in reality, like who gives a s***? Most of us are adults at this point on this site, we don't care about "being tough as nails" or whatever. It definitely stems from these trolls insecurities honestly. You're right, definitely just a stereotype that they've been fed and it's pretty f***ed up.
Sure they make points that sheltered white people don't have the credibility to speak on black violence/culture and that's entirely fine, I can get down with that and as a white dude hold my tongue. I don't speak on things I don't know about. But the guy in this thread is just being an arrogant a****** and starting fights for no reason with everyone ITT. It's a bad a look for them.

Ain't nothing wrong with being gay, and it's starting to sound like you're afraid to live your truth.
That ain't my problem b. I suggest you sort that out and stop with all your projecting itt.
lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
For real, like calling someone a "suburban nerd" is the most common insult on this site.
but then you have the same people saying “dua lipa / elton john have no right to comment on black culture / hip hop because they’re white”
you can’t play that card whenever you want, do you want these white artists to start condemning black artists for their art and speaking about their environment? I don’t think so. God forbid they find his comments offensive about a community they’re welcomed in and take a full stand on and y’all try jumping through 30 hurdles to make it seem okay.
I see what you’re trying to get at, but that’s a false parallel. We can’t let consumers off the hook. If an artist is projecting a certain lifestyle and beating the consumer over the head with it, and then one day goes on a homophobic rant, it is intellectually dishonest to say, “I’m willing to enjoy all this other stuff that stems from the same background that probably shapes his homophobia, but now he’s totally a bad person and he must be canceled because he actually brought it up even tho hip hop is the most raw form of music communication there is.” Like I said, I’m not justifying dababy, but I am s***ting on the average american’s sensibilities and how we are willing to be desensitized to so much while also demanding entertainers to magically have sensitivity in our specific regards. We see this in comedy. We see this in mafia movies. Etc. etc. etc. it’s the same problem. Cancelling dababy is just a very lazy way to feel like progress has been made.

Yea yea hold all this BS
U jus made a homophobic gay joke after spending a week criticizing a rapper for similar behavior,
U weak stand on no morals and will go wit watever at the time foh
It’s very hard to take the moral & ethical high ground as a consumer of hip hop/rap. Unless you’re very eclectic about which artist you listen to.
Boycotting the bs in music will make it fizzle out imo - we should start somewhere
At least don't buy/stream their bs : illegally download the bs

He was laughin at U, not wit U u a dumb suburban c***can’t even discern wats happenin itt
from the discourse surrounding this you would genuinely think dababy said something "i hate all gay people and wish i could genocide them"
the guy said some dumb insensitive s*** and then doubled down on it. it's not like the guy was out here making Boosie-level comments about gays.
this isn't to justify the morality of what he said, but when people say "why are you surprised this guy made insensitive comments" they aren't saying "why are you surprised this dude hates gays" they're saying "why are you surprised this guy doesn't have metropolitan sensitivities "...it would be completely different if he said he hated gays and they'd burn in hell (if he said something like this, I missed it). people are trying to equate him making dumb comments to him being outright prejudice or discriminatory or something.
This is why the comments earlier in the thread about environment and upbringing/etc seem valid to me. because its not like theyre using it to excuse someone being hateful, theyre saying that being from a certain environment means you have different ideas about acceptability and what is/isnt okay to comment on or how to do so within an overton window. this doesn't make what he said "acceptable" but i genuinely don't understand the proportion this is being blown up to. like if he said genuinely targeted and hateful comments i would maybe, but i feels like people want to argue about what they think dababy thinks of gay people in theory because of the feelings of people defending him like Boosie or TI rather than the few words the guy actually said
You’re literally sounding like how racist whites try to deflect
“Oh so rappers can rap about killing each other but as soon as I say something racist against blacks it’s a problem”
That's exaclty what they're doing
Deflecting.

Yeah the stage comments alone aren't the reason we're debating this still
It's the doubling down, the deflecting from homophobia to police brutality against black people and the unhinged support from homophobes/dumbassess that got us here
