I was asking HOW can you justify that.

Hip hops violent lyrics can at the very least be justified based on where the rappers grew up. We all on some level know it’s wrong, but we also GET why that type of content exists. So most people aren’t in any rush to condemn it.

If a rapper goes and says something homophobic tho, what’s the justification?

A lot of these dudes are sheltered tbh. Even if I was from a burb in the Chicagoland area majority of them s***s are like the hood. They think every burb is soft cause they not out there moving around their areas like they pretend to be. And they think it’s only stone cold killers in the hood because that’s the stereotype they’ve been fed through music and movies. Yeah, it honestly seems like some of these users just try to come up with this whole "you're a suburban cac" or TroyAveStan tier "suburban nerds" narrative to downplay someone's credibility or make users look "weak/soft". But in reality, like who gives a s***? Most of us are adults at this point on this site, we don't care about "being tough as nails" or whatever. It definitely stems from these trolls insecurities honestly. You're right, definitely just a stereotype that they've been fed and it's pretty f***ed up.

Sure they make points that sheltered white people don't have the credibility to speak on black violence/culture and that's entirely fine, I can get down with that and as a white dude hold my tongue. I feel like the users who overcompensate with the hood s*** are outsiders in reality but wanna put on that front because they know it’ll get them some credibility on here. There’s other posters on here that’s actually from them areas as well and don’t even feel the need to bring it up for everything like some of these dudes. They think they look hard and cool but look lame as s***. All you gotta do is act like you know what you talking about on here but if only these dudes know the hood ain’t always how they describe it on here. Depending on how well people know each other and if the community is tight knit,some hoods are just as peaceful as some suburbs. The quality of living just isn’t the best.

idk i still think what i said is valid. like i'm not trying to infantilize him, but I just don't think it's really fair to typecast the guy in some type of monocultural sensibility. I agree the guy has gotten a lot of unhinged support by people who may be genuinely hateful for no valid reason like Boosie or TI, but on the other hand I don't think it's fair to say he's therefore representative of the views of those people. like him doubling down on it for sure is dumb as well but it's dumb in the sense of "guy clearly does not understand why he was in the wrong" and not in the sense of "guy clearly is doubling down because he genuinely hates gays". imo the best proof of this is just how overt people like boosie and TI (and other homophobic rappers) are about their hate of gay or trans people...if people from these types of backgrounds believe that stuff they are very overt about it, they're not making one off insensitive comments every so often about it

I see what you’re trying to get at, but that’s a false parallel. We can’t let consumers off the hook. If an artist is projecting a certain lifestyle and beating the consumer over the head with it, and then one day goes on a homophobic rant, it is intellectually dishonest to say, “I’m willing to enjoy all this other stuff that stems from the same background that probably shapes his homophobia, but now he’s totally a bad person and he must be canceled because he actually brought it up even tho hip hop is the most raw form of music communication there is.” Like I said, I’m not justifying dababy, but I am s***ting on the average american’s sensibilities and how we are willing to be desensitized to so much while also demanding entertainers to magically have sensitivity in our specific regards. We see this in comedy. We see this in mafia movies. Etc. etc. etc. it’s the same problem. Cancelling dababy is just a very lazy way to feel like progress has been made.
