everybody saying OP content isn't good when:

    1. OP saying large portion of ppl clicks off less than a min in so how would they know if it good/bad

    2. OP posted one of their vids in fashion szn and it was very well received/spurred a lot of discussion.. the content is clearly solid.

Consistency is key. Finding your niche audience is key. Allowing your channel to grow is key. Approach it like everyday work and watch it grow.

Like it's something I think about a lot and with how much work and effort i put into my content especially. I genuinely wonder if I'm getting less views because I'm black, because I legit have look at my engagements and it's like people click on my video and then off, but it's also like I'm in a predominantly white "hyper academic" section of youtube.

I hate to put the blame on that, but I just wonder if that's the reason I don't get the views I feel deserving of.

Like I very much know it's a yes but are there papers on this, have people actually looked into this, that way I know I'm not just blowing smoke into the air?

make videos and go to fivver and have someone edit them for you for under 5 bucks. You'll increase your output just that easy.

Tbh i think it's the algo. I've been posting beats/music on youtube since 09 & discoverability, engagement, & community is in the gutter compared to what it used to be.

consistency is the #1 way to keep build a subscriber/viewer count.

not the skin tone its the content

there's lots of niggas like you getting millions of views

    look up cosmonaut variety hour...

I very much understand that but unless you've been a creator especially one of color you wouldn't get it.

Like people deadass will copy your s*** and get double the views, the reasons why the "algorithm's are racist" isn't because they are programed that way but it's because the data that people feed into them, is racist.

If people are spending less time with a black creator's content or instantly scrolling past, than yea the algorithm because racist.

Here's an article about this in the context of film and TV

    https://www.indiewire.com/2014/01/why-white-people-dont-like-black-movies-162548/

This comes from white people's innate media biases in having most media containing people who look like them, so they're less likely to engage with media from someone who doesn't, whether it be in tv, video games or social media. These biases is why Princess and the Frog failed for example or why ebony is it's own section on P***hub.

I just wanna know and I guess I'd like a lil confirmation and research to back up my thoughts as I haven't seen it talked about much in the context of social media or influencer culture

    I could understand this:

'"algorithm's are racist" isn't because they are programed that way but it's because the data that people feed into them, is racist.'

same logic goes for those ai chat bots that study humans then turn racist

'we can see that many of the bot's nastiest utterances have simply been the result of copying users.'

But that being said, i wouldn't prefer someone else's content over yours if the only difference is race.

If people really are copying your s*** exactly id implore you to look into it more.

Could be racially motivated, but maybe they're taking ideas you had and expanding on them to appeal to a wider audience.

    @op u r making the right vids

ur deadass one title/thumbnail away from being in everyone's recommended. Try changing the title/thumbnail of ur old vids it actually can boost views.

basically I don't think there's a single thing you could do better w ur vids, s*** is basically perfect, all that's keeping u back is the yt algorithm game. And it sucks bc ur thumbnails are fkn cleannnnn but idk if they r clickbaity enough smh

idk if u have seen this but its a good watch w rlly good advice n info on the thumbnail/title game

p.s. I can help write s*** if u ever need it

No I feel this it's very very tricky cause clickbait/the thumbnail metagame isn't in the part of the video essay category, but it is like it's very odd:

Idk I just find the thumbnail metagame so ass, and you could be like "just play the game more" but my integrity comes first, like someone used the Coronia video as an exmaple, but that was inspired directly from the Life of Pablo for example.

I'm deeply inspired by the thumbnails of people like nerdwriter and thorhighheels it's a part of my personal brand, because I think most thumbnails are soooo tacky, I also think it directly juxopposes the more meme-y nature of my videos, idk I may do it for one particular topic. Because with a more meme heavy loud video, and that thumbnail, it would then put the validity of what I'm saying at risk, causing people to potentially read it as parody. I hope I'm making sense. It's part of the packaging and branding thing he speaks of:

It's so hard and frustrating, because I know i visually stand out from the crowd now, and that pulls people in. I also know my thumbnails are very much in line with the people I'm inspired by, and fit in well with the examples above. Non-metagame thumbnails are how I found my favorite youtubers. I'm not being "stubborn" I promise but like I do brand consulting and marketing, and I'm trying to play a long game with an algorithm that favors red arrows and things that appeal to the taste of 12 year olds. So it's frustrating, because that is part of the unified package ya know? Like I said it goes back into to that, elevated content made digestible for those not entrenched in elevated taste.

Like lets be real like I don't think anyone here could see me making more clickbait type thumbnails, it's personal brand marketing 101 ya know? Again I'm not being stubborn, I'm just explaining

I will look into the multi thumbnail thing tho, I can't change the title as it ruins the in-video title card which ruins the cold open thing that's been as staple of my channel which is a direct reference to always sunny

Sorry I wrote an essay, thank you for all the help

oh nah i totally feel u lmao

i run a beats channel and i also refuse 2 play the title n thumbnail (and tag) game even tho i know it's rlly the only way 2 "blow up".

idk it's def an artistic compromise ur right. but ur s*** is rlly good quality so like idk it's just gotta get in front of heads

i feel like it's gonna work out for u sooner or later tho lol u can't b making s*** that clutch without eventually finding success

I only know one black dude that operates in your lane (and I only found him searching Mileena MK 11 videos). He's a small channel.
