Like it's something I think about a lot and with how much work and effort i put into my content especially. I genuinely wonder if I'm getting less views because I'm black, because I legit have look at my engagements and it's like people click on my video and then off, but it's also like I'm in a predominantly white "hyper academic" section of youtube.
I hate to put the blame on that, but I just wonder if that's the reason I don't get the views I feel deserving of.
Like I very much know it's a yes but are there papers on this, have people actually looked into this, that way I know I'm not just blowing smoke into the air?
Outsiders always get the views black folk deserve. It’s just the way things are with black content creators. I don’t think anything can change that, niggas tried boycotting TikTok but that didn’t do s***.
but yes, your skin color is a factor when it comes to this internet creator life. there's a lot of mediocrity at the top for one reason.
what's your content?
My stuff on tik tok does really well. Granted it's a younger fanbase
But on youtube I can barely break 1k views, it's mostly video essays and cultural a***ysis, mostly talking about movies but that's a part of youtube dominated by nasally white dudes who mod on reddit in their freetime. I get that what I'm doing isn't "hyper" academic and more fun as casual which you would very much think would build an audience but dead ass I'm watching people lap me in real time some days
But like deadass I look at my stats and it's like people see a nigga then click off
Op what’s ur YouTube?

There's tons of people of all races who make good content that gets very little views

listening to ur take on nostalgia and disney. Good points so far
Idk, but you need a form of weekly/monthy content on a rigid schedule for sure. Youtube rewards that

I very much understand that but unless you've been a creator especially one of color you wouldn't get it.
Like people deadass will copy your s*** and get double the views, the reasons why the "algorithm's are racist" isn't because they are programed that way but it's because the data that people feed into them, is racist.
If people are spending less time with a black creator's content or instantly scrolling past, than yea the algorithm because racist.
Here's an article about this in the context of film and TV
indiewire.com/2014/01/why-white-people-dont-like-black-movies-162548
This comes from white people's innate media biases in having most media containing people who look like them, so they're less likely to engage with media from someone who doesn't, whether it be in tv, video games or social media. These biases is why Princess and the Frog failed for example or why ebony is it's own section on P***hub.
I just wanna know and I guess I'd like a lil confirmation and research to back up my thoughts as I haven't seen it talked about much in the context of social media or influencer culture
Have you spent money on Google Ads, or are you just hoping to blow up?
Nah cause never have I heard of anyone spending money on ads to get more youtube views, that sounds insane

I mean I do try it's just that making video essays is f***ing time consuming, but I have peers/contemporaries who don't have as much issue with this stuff as I do
Nah cause never have I heard of anyone spending money on ads to get more youtube views, that sounds insane
I think a lot more than you think
Not a content creator, but I’ve watched YouTube enough and seen creators give advice
Bro you need to upload a lot more videos more consistently. From your channel it looks like you take way too long of gaps between content, unless you’re PewdiePie or that tier of fame, you can’t just take a 6+ month hiatus and start back dropping videos
Yeah it sucks, but for smaller channels you need to be uploading on a frequent schedule consistently to help with traction and getting your brand name out their
From a viewer perspective if you’re relatively unknown and only dropping inconsistently they arent gonna wanna trust you enough to know if your content is worth waiting to check out after you decide to post again
Take what you will from this. Sent you a sub and best of luck @disneyfrozen
I don’t think skin color has as much to do with this as you think Imo
Nah cause never have I heard of anyone spending money on ads to get more youtube views, that sounds insane
Thats how you grow, and plenty of people do it dweeb.
Ok nvm @op you just need to be more consistent and also make videos on what is currently trending

Also need to work on overall quality, especially in the audio department.

I fw ur content man
Your skin color probably has nothing to do with it.
One thing u could easily do to improve is make your video titles so they give a better idea of what your videos are about
Cause i look at them and it doesnt hook me in very much. You want to have a strong thesis or point with every video and make sure you clearly state that in the title
Just my opinion
