I was talking about that specific movie, Duke
When’s the next flash sale? November?
Either mid-February to early March
Can someone make a list of essentials? I just got into this and iv seen most of ingar bergmans work and House was great
You've seen most of Bergmans work and need a list of essentials??
You didn’t even put Jarmusch in your list
Cause I already had Dead Man on Blu way before they restored it so no it's not an essential. Down By Law maybe.
incredible film!! have fun
wonder what release they'll be showing
paris texas was great. beautiful film too. the neon lit night scenes reminded me a lot of repo man.
anyone else get stressed at the end of the month when you wanna binge all the movies leaving the channel app

Yes???? Theres like 4,000 movies on criterion channel
I’m pretty sure your 30ppl joke isn’t actually all that far from the truth. Criterion is smaller than you might think because they get a lot of credit for s*** they don’t do. Tons of their restorations are simply bought (shoutout l’immagine ritrovata f.e.).
And in any case they are limited in the number of releases a they can do each month also because they are so expensive to buy so the average consumer isn’t gonna buy a majority of the releases each month or each sale. High sellers like Lynch, Tark, Anderson are better releases spaced out. Netflix releases probably space that out even more.
I just fear that this will push releases of films that are only available on DVD and without good restorations (or not available at all) for s***ty films that criterion would never release if there wasn’t the Netflix connection that are available on NF 24/7.
I'd be perfectly fine with it if they just waited til the end of each year and choose their 4 favorite Netflix films to put announce as the next release batch. So just once at the end of the year, not routinely.
Probably wishful thinking tho

honestly their essential art house list is not bad if you haven’t figured out ur taste or watched a lot yet

both films were shot by the god Robby Müller
put some of his other films one your watch list if you liked the look. 'To Live and Die in LA' and 'The American Friend' both have beautiful color cinematography by Robby Müller.

I just thought it weird that someone would watch 30 Bergman films and be wanting essentials deep dives into Bergman isn't exactly novice stuff
