Are you being obtuse on purpose? The right wing talking point for months was that there was a NET over counting of covid deaths. They were bending over backwards to say that it was all overblown by the left. Not “there’s over counting and undercounting but we don’t know where the count is in relation to the actual number”

He was one of the first to take things serious and take meaningful action. He just blew it in the end.

Something similar happened in my state, Ohio. Gov. DeWine got a ton of praise early on for getting serious about covid and deferring to experts when it was appropriate and not trying to politicize things. DeWine is a Republican, and he slowly started to kowtow to his voters and soften his stance, his well-respected health advisor kind of jumped ship and he had been slammed for the actions he had taken since.

Gov. DeWine started shutting things down in the first week of March and was praised for setting the standard on responses across the country. Then, eventually everything opened back up, and when things were surging early this winter, he’s stance went from being the barometer for the nation to politely asking people not to dance or play bar games when they go out
