And new SoundCloud generation is terrible. All of them seem inauthentic (think sofaygo, kankan, ken carson, yeat) with their flashing lean and guns. They remind you of those kids that were in band in high school but wanted to act street/cool after graduating lol.

Nobody with the current trending production sound is going to the levels of God MC, it's so heavily saturated that it doesn't stand out to casuals

Also the current expectation of constantly dropping music will make it hard for anyone to just take their time crafting a project and achieving Illmatic tier albums

Give it another 5-10 years for a new sound cycle and we'll see where it goes. XXX, Pop, Juice etc all passed away and they were literally all at the top

Oh s*** I forgot about pop that nigga was about to get NY back on track and everything, bro even had 50 petty ass about to pass the torch

what we really need to leave behind is motherfuckers coming into every single thread about popular rap talking about 'oh youre just not tapped in' and then linking Griselda and f***ing open mike eagle and whatever the f***

Yeah bruh neo-dust got its place but it’s really just an echo of a style that’s already run it’s course

  • Feb 18, 2022

Anybody who not deep with rap would just go listen to a classic album from when that style was poppin and call it a day

I’ll say it as many times as I need to until y’all stop proposing this dumb hypothetical: we lost Peep, Mac, X, Nip, Juice and Pop pretty much before this decade even started. The trajectory of mainstream rap for the rest of this generation is going to be jarring cause none of these new niggas except Durk, YB and both Baby’s are interested in being the “next” guy

And X, Juice and Pop were basically gon be the next big 3

It needs to steal more from modern rap and become more of a true fusion of the two

But I’m pretty sure most niggas doing the neo-dust thing don’t like what’s going on over on the other side

    thread is facts tbh

couple this with the fact rap is losing popularity in the US & I think it's pretty likely that the guys leading the next wave will be artists like Laroi/Doja Cat. People that are far more pop rap but can still rap a bit

It’s cause they not niggas except for nas x, and nas x gay so niggas always gon keep him at a arms length

Back in the day Eminem had all those dems too and he white. He was affiliated w Dre and 50 tho ofc and had a whole different image, but guess has less to do w skin color and more w the type of music you make

Eminem was a nigga, bruh was mobbed up with d12, with a Dre co-sign, and later on he even put 50 on, bruh was nowhere close to a random white boy talking bout some f***ing what’s poppin

  • Feb 18, 2022

And d-12 wasn’t random niggas either they was people he came up with
