  • I feel like people cling way too much to the “big 3” discussion. I don’t think there needs to be superstars on top of the world for the genre to be doing well and progressing

Honestly i think Pop Smoke was diverse enough (based on his first posthemous release) to be one of the next superstars

I don't think he would've blew the way his post humous album did. Music was there just not hype around him.

    CLOUD RAP REVIVAL

  • Feb 18, 2022

It will stagnate if it remains the dominant genre. Rap needs to be niche again. Hoping pop/Rock takes over the mainstream again

There’s so much fire s*** out there, more than ever I think. Just have to realize that what you think is good might not always be what’s popular. At the end of the day Kid Laroi, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, etc. etc had huge hits and are technically rappers. Just find what you like and don’t worry about how popular they are bro.

Kid Laroi was a culture vulture and already went pop

Lil Nas X is gay so the streets are not gonna fw him, plus he went pop as well.

Jack Harlow is the closest but he’s white so that might hold him back a little

Definitley not as fast, but I think eventually he woulda crossed over successfully

IMO a lot of these rappers that are poppin’ now aren’t gonna last in like 3-4 years because theirs no drive to make quality music.

Nah, when Travis co-signed him, his buzz got bigger, I remember dudes in my school bumping his music when he only had one mixtape out and I’m from the south.

simple, you got 3 movements on this moment , the way i see it, that will control the airwaves the next years:

    A) Drill: Fivio Foreign and so on
    B) Cloud Rap: Carti, Uzi , Yeat and so on
    C) 20’s Boom Bap: Griselda Movement

Do you think The Weeknd will slowly become like Em and gradually start making corny music despite his success?

Who knows? I hope not lol What did you think of his last project?

His buzz still wasnt as big as his posthumous release thats what I mean. His first post humous album was almost as big as astroworld lol

He was definitely gonna be a star off his iconic voice alone. Anybody who disagrees is coping
