It sucks that they didn’t seem to change the whole “pronouns are tied to your voice” thing.

There’s probably gonna be some attention drawn on that when the game releases, or when reviews start coming out.

In all honesty, I don’t think CDPR even really thought too much about it when they were developing the game. It didn’t really come into attention until last year and given that there are other Cyberpunk games like Deus Ex (the latest came out in 2016) and Shadowrun that didn’t so much as make a reference to trans people, they probably didn’t even really consider it.

They’re putting in a little more effort than most developers to be inclusive, but it does come off as pretty half-assed and will probably be a prominent criticism (doubly so if the game itself doesn’t feature any transgender characters) due to their past comments/jokes on Twitter.

Hopefully I'm not setting myself up for disappointment but that's what I'm hoping out of the story too

I mean, the main plot of the game is someone else inhabiting your mind and body alongside you, with your memories bleeding into theirs and vice verse, so, I mean, I kind of feel like that’s gonna be unavoidable

Hopefully it doesn't feel like a GTA game with a futuristic mod, and actually feels like its own game.

The leaked gameplay showed some of the character customization, and there’s a pronoun option, but it’s only tied to voice. So if you chose a male toned voice, you’re referred to by male pronouns (he, him, his).

So the only way you can be a trans-woman (pre sexual reassignment) is by choosing a “male” body and applying a female voice to it. Of course there’s trans people who can’t afford hormone treatments and surgical operations, so they won’t be able to accurately role play as themselves if they choose to do so.

And it wasn’t until the Mix-It-Up ad controversy last year that CDPR implemented this aspect (alongside not labeling the two body builds as male or female) into character customization, so it ends up feeling kind of half-assed, and given the trans-related jokes that their marketing team have made (alongside featuring a cosplay of the Mix-It-Up ad in their official cosplay competition by a non-trans woman) makes it look kind of bad and something that I wouldn’t be surprised to see brought up in reviews and such.

Who cares man just create a male or female character

I’m not speaking for myself, obviously for me it’s not really relevant, but I want the game to be as inclusive as possible and especially given the genre it’s the game that SHOULD be all about it.

It’s just disappointing how for that group of people it’s lacking and I can understand their frustration, especially given prior comments.
