The developers have no power in that matter
Alright bro if that’s what you want to believe
Bro, I literally work in a Dev/Programmer environment, and I’m TELLING you, that devs need to be held responsible.
The stakeholders would ask them of a certain date where the product would be ready, the dev team would tell them “XYZ”. Until the product is 100% ready, the devs can push it back - BUT NEED to let the stakeholders know/communicate/meet with them (and potentially get yelled at).
This is normal, this is business. Not a good look for CDPR, the blame is on them.
That issue is likely due to poor management, not the people working in the trenches. And that’s not even getting into the issues that COVID likely created. Most games don’t fully come together until the very end, it’s entirely possible they greatly misjudged the effects of working remotely on the game.
Basically, what I’m saying, is if CDPR wasn’t a publicly traded company, the game likely wouldn’t have been released, especially not in the state, because they knew. They wouldn’t think the hit to their reputation would be worth it, because sales would crater and fast.
The developers have no power in that matter
They didn’t work hard enough or have enough of a stringent QE testing in place, to actually test the game. I’ve seen it 100 times before.
If a surgery fails, you blame the surgeon, not the people paying the surgeons salary.
Alright bro if that’s what you want to believe
You think the people down in the trenches actually physically programming the game have the power to tell the shareholders, who hold all the capital, “Nah, this s*** isn’t ready, we aren’t releasing it. F*** your returns.”?
That statement was from 2 years ago, and a lot can change in game development in 2 years. Hell, the devs literally said the game wasn’t ready to be released, but shareholders pressured them into releasing it.
I guarantee you they wanted to delay well beyond December 10th back in October, but it was denied. In fact, I don’t even think they (the developers) even wanted to release the game in November.
Coping way too hard

Yes. Yes they do, the digital overlord or whoever their team lead is DOES have that power. That’s their f***ing job.
You will get yelled at by shareholders, tough luck. Entirely the dev team managements fault for not setting clearer timelines.
Coping way too hard
HOW am I coping? The devs LITERALLY told them (the heads and shareholders) the game isn’t ready to be released. Meaning, if it was up to the developers, it wouldn’t have been released, thus, logically, it would have been delayed.
Delaying the game would have done very little IMO. I don't think any of these problems would be fixed with an extra week or month's work. You have to wonder what they were even doing all these years. An open world rpg shooter but there is no traffic AI and the enemy AI is terrible too? Very little meaningful dialogue? Why weren't these a priority?

Just stop man, you don't work for them. You're allowed to be annoyed at this s***ty looking game

It wouldn’t have been delayed just a week or a month
It’s clear that that 3 week delay was basically the devs being told “This is all you get, we aren’t about to delay this game out of the biggest holiday season we could ever hope to have.”
Not even just that. It’s like they expected CDPR to turn into a completely different studio within the span of a single game.
The game was always going to be messy and full of jank. Hell, people on that forum are still complaining about features that were cut that CDPR openly said would be cut (like wall running, owning multiple apartments, the child hero mechanic).
The game was always going to have issues given the developer and their general inexperience. Features and mechanics in games never look or feel how they sound in articles or in statements, that’s just the nature of gaming. S*** ain’t limitless
True. CDPR created a masterful game in TW3, but that game took time to make. They need time as a company themselves to improve their process of developing and launching games.
They’re getting compared to studios like Rockstar who by the time the first Witcher came out had released so many games on multiple platforms that did incredibly well.
I say this is just a learning moment for CDPR, I’m sure next release will be a lot more refined and taking the time needed from what they learned from this one.

The f*** are you talking about? I literally tried to get refunded for the game, and I’ve NEVER done that before.

@CrimsonArk I’m hurt too my slime, luckily I’m on PC, but for my PS4/X1 fam. but you gotta understand that CDPR aren’t kids, they knew what was happening.
This is why weak, emotional people shouldn’t get into positions at labs with tech/digital. It’s a place of more diplomacy than you guys think.
So glad I didn't give this more than 2-3 hours of time yet. Going to hold off until they fix this ugly ass game

There’s no diplomacy over capitalism
There’s no diplomacy over capitalism
You’re missing the point entirely. Now I not only know that you know f*** all about digital/tech, but also finance.

They expect two major patches in January and February.
You have to think if they delayed it 2-3 more months a lot could be improved.
I don’t get the “all those years” question though... Do people know they don’t just immediately start working on this when they first announce games? They were still developing on TW3 and DLCs for it.
Also, developing anything over a course of years is a hard task idk why y’all act like developing is just some easy task that you can just predictably do in a set time. Especially when it comes to programming for video games where there is so many variables to consider as well as not just that optimizing for every platform then there’s the testing process. Programming is always going to take well over your estimated time of development.

They started development like 4 years ago they def shoulda waited another year and not announce in 2013 lmao

I don't think with 2 or 3 months the game could be improved. The game itself is missing features. The game is buggy too, but an extra bit of time can't change how much stuff is missing from the core experience.

This. It's beyond just being a laggy game
I feel like I'm playing Fallout 3

This depends on a lot though. I’m positive CDPR has different environments for developing video games.
At the very least a dev, test, and release/prod environment or considering how buggy this is maybe just dev & test lol. Their dev code probably has a lot more features but it’s also probably a lot less stable than the already buggy prod code we got.
