The transphobic s*** they said on Twitter, the kind of half ass approach they have to making a trans inclusive character creator, and then fully endorsing a cosplay of a character who literally represents (according to the original artist herself) a gross fetishization of an entire group of people displayed as an advertisement piece (again the artist of the ad herself said that this is what that Mix-It-Up ad means, and why it is the way it is).

And then the cosplayer makes fun of her own appearance (and the giant fake d***) in the tweet that the official Cyberpunk twitter account retweeted when showing off the cosplay, while the artist said that the ad shouldn’t at all be considered funny.

It shows not only at the very least tone deafness, but a complete misunderstanding of the intent of their own game.

I can't really speak on the other stuff, but I don't think they intended any harm with the recent cosplay retweet, all she said was that the p**** was glowing blue from the inside unless I missed another tweet

That car trailer the first thing to get my hyped about this game in a minute. They've set some pretty insane standards for themselves, I feel like this should've been out a long time ago. The entire "we're trying to make this perfect" like it won't be riddled with bugs on launch day lol

Cosplaying something as an individual is fine, but it’s the fact that the official twitter account pushed it to such prominence, it was even featured in the Night City Wire.

That character/ad is literally the single biggest piece of pushback CDPR has ever gotten for the game outside of crunch.

It just looks f***ing bad, and again, the intent behind the character and it’s design within the game itself only makes it worse.

I mean, it depends on what’s in the game itself. Most of this stuff seems to stem from the marketing department of the company, not the developers themselves.

You pointed out the character customization, that's in the game bro

I mentioned it more as a clear last minute addition to the game, I don’t think it’s inherently insidious or anything, not to mention such things could have potentially been tweaked since then.

But again, trans-representation within the game and the way it handles such characters (if they exist in the game itself) is what I think is the ultimate test of intent.

I’m sure there will at least be some reviews ahead of time that’ll touch on the specific topic given the previous controversies, so I’ll gauge whether or not I’ll get the game through that (though to be honest I don’t expect it to be the most nuanced takes considering the number of transgender characters in games in general are incredibly low).

And I won’t lie, Witcher 3 is my GOTG and Cyberpunk 2077 has been my most anticipated game since it’s announcement, so it’s just hard for me to completely disavow it.

(As an aside I said I might buy it preowned)
