That’s cap. Combat system is totally different in both games. Even tho inventory system looks convoluted in Witcher and more simplified here

Yea but the main emphasis on the game is world building, narrative, branching storylines ect. So if he thinks that's boring then he will think it's boring here. The combat does look better but it's their first attempt at a FPS too, I wouldn't expect outstanding combat. Probably gonna be serviceable. The elements they do excel at are the things I mentioned and if he doesn't like them in one, he likely won't like it in another
