Bangalter still shares a studio and equipment with Homem-Christo, who saw “Mythologies” in Bordeaux. (He declined to be interviewed for this article.)

“I’m very grateful for the freedom and the creative latitude that I was able to explore with my partner,” Bangalter said. “So it’s behind me now, but I’m really happy about it. I’ve always liked the idea of adding facets and possibilities more than shutting down ideas. The only thing it’s farewell to is Daft Punk, because that is in the past, but beyond that, there are many different things yet to explore.”

“My priorities in the world in 2023 are on the side of the humans, not the machines,” he said. “I have absolutely no desire or intentions to be a robot in 2023. There is absolutely not one reason I would want to be one.”

I listen to classical music too

But this is more or less a soundtrack which has to be viewed in tandem with the visual experience

We are only getting HALF the experience

I remember I skipped the last half of my school day to go buy the RAM CD when it dropped

That's kinda incorrect though because the compositions were recorded prior to the choreography here. That's like saying the music from the Nutcracker has to be viewed with the visual for the experience - when that music is used on its own more than it is paired with the actual ballet.

The full ballet is airing next week on French TV too so the "full experience" you're talking about will be available if you look for it.

Yeah sure. It’s just that seeing Thomas doing a casual interview without helmet made me realized that’s it’s really over

Curious whatever happened near the end where he wouldn’t look at Daft Punk with absolute pride? Maybe he’s literally wired different. Amazing end though, very admirable that they called it off in that fashion.

He never uses the word pride. After RAM won 5 grammys, he was asked if they were proud of what they did and Thomas didnt like that word and he said they were "humbled"

Idk why - outside of people just not being excited by the project based on the genre. OP hasn't put it in the title maybe? There's a second thread too which may be confusing peeps.

Album's great though (granted I like classical stuff a lot).

Its really good, laying out at the park listening to this in the sun rn.

Lot of really interesting motifs. Makes me wanna see the show.

Would love to see him do more in this space. Maybe some films in the future like Jonny does.

The ballet itself will air on French TV Friday, so there will hopefully be rips of it going around.

Fully agree with the Jonny Greenwood comparison. But also wouldn't mind seeing Bangalter go full producer mode and start helping pop acts (like how he was seen with Lil Nas X in the studio).
