they never shoulda let me have unsupervised internet access
honestly thinking about seeing my 53 year old parents posting on facebook or... on discord talking to people she knows through world of warcraft is what made me have this epiphany
if even the proud Gen Xer is now attached to their CPU at the hip, what chance have I?
Way I see it: there’s a whole lotta posts not enough posters these days. You can be the post or the poster
Rt if you’re one of the last real posters left
there are different internet spaces that you filter up through as you get older I think
If someone's 30 and on snapchat still they're clearly doing something doing wrong, but I think Twitter is probably fine for most ages. it's moreso balancing it with your IRL obligations as you get older, which is ofc true of anything. There are some dudes with wife and kids who I'm like "wow bro you sure post a lot," but I mean we all have a certain amount of free time and I clearly am not in a position to judge
because the internet is so relatively young there's not really a playbook yet for aging gracefully "online" I think. but it's possible
That's true to an extent. I'm definitely seeing as I get older people are using snapchat less. Kinda weird to think about.
I think Twitter is pretty toxic and has minimal use unless you are using it for your job or are a public figure.
I think once you hit 30 though you should spend at most 30 minutes a day on social media/ forums.
Welcome to the machine
being online has a different meaning now than it did then
It was considered by many to be nerdy to use the internet heavy, before about 10 years ago
Now youve got people posting pictures of their infants for likes from people they don’t even interact with like that
Being a forum user is seriously light compared to the very very very strange history of the internet . Having a community is cool

Why
Why
There's only 24 hours in a day and I just don't think it's a good use of time. Life will start to pass you by.
give the mods no leisure
tis' a posters pleasure
til' the lurkers scoff
and the trolls log off
i have left my life for to post

Idk man forums have a place in the adult world easily, there’s an infinite cast of information out there . You can damn near pick up a trade with forum knowledge if you need to . Shoot my pops spends hella time on car forums when he’s stuck on a repair but still leads a productive life

rt i feel like forums one of the best type of sites
In this specific context op is talking about I don’t see how anyone is being harmed
Oh this just sounds like an addiction he could easily treat by putting his phone or laptop away!

yeah that's what i'm noticing
as ppl who've grown up thinking of the internet as a normal part of existence and not some new contraption or separate thing from "real life" become a larger percentage of the population, it becomes more normal (dare I say, "normalized")
which in turn kind of disincentivizes people to "log off" just because they are getting older, bc everyone else they see aging alongside them also still uses the internet for some social purpose or other
posting is no different than twitter or IG breh its nbd
He's right, there's been more and more studies coming out by day that show the bad effects of being chronically online.
glad we can always agree
Yes, I would hope I would have a life and it would go down a lot at some point but I kinda doubt it.
It’s not hurting anyone no reason to think so hard about it
On god. They take this s*** way too seriously

Being 30 on Snapchat, an app for sending/receiving pictures/videos is evidence of someone doing something wrong with life? Like what do y’all be talking about on here

that was the most normal s*** i said tbh

yeah when i say posting i include social media and any other online thing
If a person is nearing 30 years old and is still on forums....nothing even needs to be said that just sounds off already
