surprised by the responses here, thought Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was clearly better than DAMN. It has a lot more replayability for me (N95, Die Hard, Saviour, Rich Spirit, Silent Hill, Mr. Morale)

In hindsight, it’s quite commendable what Kendrick did with blending his vintage writing and themes with a more pop orientated sound. Big Steppers was not it for me and I haven’t really gone back, maybe in the future.

We should be having this conversation when the Mr Morale hype wears off

DAMN has DNA, LUST, XXX and FEAR

Much better rapping, better beats and better hooks. The production and sound on DAMN is much more polished, some of the beats on Mr Morale sound like Baby Keem type beats

plus DAMN had real impact, a much doper aesthetic and real staying power

Although it doesn’t really matter to me who chooses which album because they’re both great to me. I don’t view anyone with a bias for picking one or the other, I just keep it in mind for future discourse.

I can listen to DAMN as a whole more than I can MM&BP, but my MM&BP standouts stand out 10x more than my DAMN standouts

Eh idk. Damn is about religious damnation and how your life can go different ways depending on the will of god. God can bless you but he can also curse you, and we aren't in control although following his commandments will theoretically help.

MMBS is about human suffering, about overcoming your past trauma by addressing it in therapy and not passing it down generationally. It's not very religious at all.

So maybe it's the flip side in that one is religious and one is human but I don't think it's the logical conclusion.
