it's looking like a fantastic adaptation so far
i was skeptical at first but i think saru was the right choice for studio, i could feel there was a lot of passion put into this

You aint wrong I been reading the manga (alot) but some of the weird s*** stays. Like they not naked all the time anymore but I do find it extremely wrong to make the backstory of the entire female cast to be "find a strong man and get pregnant" to the point where it reads like fanfic.

But Jiji is the man tho. Favorite character, lets talk about it

that isn't the backstory for any of the female cast and i'm not sure how you came away thinking that. i've never seen anyone say that before lol

even in the case of vamola, that was used as a joke to create tension between her and momo. a large part of that arc is about their relationship and momo coming around to vamola. also the "goal" of finding a husband was completely dropped by the end of the arc and hasn't been brought up since, so it was never supposed to be the main sticking point for her character

there are light harem elements which the community loves to joke about but they're clearly being used to push the relationship between okarun and momo, and for more of the "will they, won't they" bit. i could see how that might be annoying to some people but the female cast has way more to offer than "finding a man and getting pregnant"

It just kinda gave me the ick joke or not. Even Momos primary motivation is being bullied by the boy she liked. It feels very male gazey. Which like the other user said is to be expected being a shounen. It just seems like a bit of a shame when the author seems to be making such an effort.

But its not the end of the world I am having a blast with it and very hyped about the anime.

momo's motivation is her grandma, not being bullied by the boy she liked as a kid. being bullied is what pushed her away from her grandma and the results of the following chapters are what makes momo realize her grandma is right about spirits and that she was wrong for pushing her grandma away. that and seiko becoming her primary source for understanding the world of spirits and her powers is what brings them closer, plus momo is always talking about how much she loves her grandma and how much she looks up to her

I always saw her motivation to be more finding her Ken Tatakura and the grandma is like her Reigen. Either way it doesnt diminish much but similar to the sexual stuff I think I wouldve liked the manga alot more without it.

the male characters like Jiji/ Evil Eye and Zuma have been clicking alot better with me. While the female have often rather shallow motifs. Might be my own bias ive only read it once maybe itll work better for me when we get to it in the Anime its often like that for me.
