I think I parried like 3 times during my entire playthrough of DS3, so it's not in my skillset at all. Right now I'm basically just blocking, dodging and trying to weave in attacks when I can. I've already died so many times. I do enjoy the stealth and movement though. Blazing Bull had no reason to be that difficult, and it's just a mini boss

Ahh, I just meant that it's not something I think about doing, not that I can't do it. I guess I'm still approaching fights the way I would in DS3.
I beat Raging Bull by sitting in the corner near the fog and it caused his AI to f*** up and only attack once every couple seconds

I was the exact same way
I played ds1-3 and bloodbourne without really mastering the parry mechanics in those games
So it was definitely a learning curve. Trust me you’ll understand the timing and how to use it. The bull fight is still pretty early. I was getting my ass beat around then too

the end goal is to perfect parry. dodging to doesn't have as many i frames as Souls and you WILL get caught in an attack trying to dodge.
Parrying is this game way more than Souls.
I say it all the time but Sekiro is very much like a rhythm game to me.
Get Mikiri Counter... s*** is essential
edit: some bosses like the bull and redacted require you to play it more like souls but for the most part every enemy can be parried

I did it as I got more familiar with the game but I never mastered the timing of it with any of the bosses TBH

I only figured out the timing of parries on Bloodborne during the Lady Maria fight
Was just Hunters Axe swinging my way through the game before that

I practiced on those 2 brick trolls in central yarhnam and then you have so many bullets that for bosses you can just spam shoot their attacks usually

How do you guys play Souls games? When it comes to controls, i feel like Souls games are weird games to play, i kinda have to play claw if i want full control, for example when you’re running and want to control the camera you have one finger on circle(playstation but your right thumb on the r3 joystick. Anyone else do this?

lol i know exactly what you mean, i hold it like that during some points of the harder boss battles

Why does this sound like the whole Rom boss fight
Know exactly what you're talking about

It’s a whole steering wheel fam. I just end up taking my fingers off in quick succession.
When controlling the camera I don’t feel the need to always be controlling it. The auto camera works fine and then you adjust when you need.
Also learning to play these games without lock on is just so much better when you really get used to the moves.

i've been playing claw since 12 so it's never been an issue for me

have you got to genichiro yet?

Nah, I just beat Armored Warrior. Was actually pretty good practice for parrying and the mikiri counter

I do it all the time though, when exploring or just playing the game. S*** is going to give me carpal tunnel

Idk, i like being control, turning the camera by myself, so i don’t miss hidden items or paths
Holy f***, I finally beat Genichiro and this mf is resurrected
I'm gonna have to fight him again later
Took me like 5 hours of trying too, I don't think I've ever been that stuck before
It was really only his 2nd stage that was a problem for me though. I got plenty of hitless runs during the first stage but I didn't really understand blocking the lightning attacks in the 2nd stage. I know they explained it, for whatever reason it wasn't clicking for me. But then it did and I beat him like 3 tries later after figuring it out.
Combat is starting to make sense too. I'm starting to get the rhythm and flow that they want.

Wait, he resurrects ?
