Not lesser known by a stretch but if you like hollow knight chances are you might enjoy Ori 1 and especially 2

There are 3 well hidden areas that you might have to look up a guide for. 2 of them I know I definitely wouldn't have found on my own
Just beat The Rotten in DS2, the last of the four old ones. Man, the bosses are so easy in this one
I'm pretty sure I've beaten every boss so far in 1 or 2 tries. Figuring out where to go is harder than some of these fights. I never had to use the wiki to find the next area in DS3, but I'm constantly having to pull it up for DS2.
twin blades are always so fun. suffered through those sharks in Bloodborne just for those twin blade things.

Doesn't help that the game gives you souls like f***ing crazy, I felt like I was overleveled for like 80 percent of my playthrough. Still haven't done dlc tho
Recently beat Sekiro as my first fromsoft game, and proceeded to beat it again in NG+. What game should I play next? Already have BB through PS+ collection, and I’m planning to get Elden Ring as well
You beat their hardest game first. The others should be relatively easy compared to Sekiro especially DS3
I’m playing thru DS1 first time and I just got to Sens Fortress but idk the lack of story is really holding me back from continuing
The sense of accomplishment is there but idk I don’t feel the need to keep going.

Yeah these arent the games to play if you want a plot
There is world building and a history behind everything but the driving force of the game is fighting through the world and killing bosses

I guess I’m just missing the “why” for everything in the game.
I love the gameplay, but I just don’t get why I’m doing what I’m doing. Which doesn’t motivate me to keep going. Like I ring the two bells, not sure why or what for.
I also felt like I was getting close to end but realized I’ve barely gotten started

I hear you. There are NPCs to get info out of but so much of the lore/story is told through item descriptions and observing the world and the enemies you fight. Everything has a backstory and a reason for being there.
Also here's a guy on youtube called VaatiVidya who's studied all the Souls games like a f***ing scientist and has a ton of cool lore videos youtube.com/c/VaatiVidya

imo, there really isn't a "why". People who have become undead, hollow or unkindled are essentially animals acting on instinct, doing what they're told. Their "purpose" is to go from a weak soul to a powerful soul. Why? Because that's just what they do. The process of becoming a powerful soul will lead to you having the option of linking the fire to prolong the age of the gods or not.
You are neither good nor bad, a hero nor villain, you simply just are.
I really haven't gone that deep into the lore so my interpretation may be off but this is what I've picked up so far from DS3, DS2 and reading explanations on the Dark Souls subreddits.

You might want to start reading all item descriptions and talk to all npcs repeatedly if you want to experience a story. Not everything is completely laid out, because the game wants you to also make your own conclusions. Pretty good stuff if you want to put in the effort tho
can't have a From game without an area that sucks total f***ing ass. Poison will forever be woat. And they put boss type enemies in there I'm flying

Beat DS2 today. Overall, I have pretty mixed feelings about it. I liked the variety of areas, graphically the game still looks really good, lots of weapons and armor, the npc's were all interesting in their own ways, the music was great and I loved Majula.
But man there were so many tiny annoyances. Getting through the areas was a huge pain. I don't mind getting ganked but it felt like around every corner and staircase there was somebody waiting for me. Lots of places where they just threw 3-4 big dudes at you for the fun of it. Weapon degradation was f***ing terrible. That orange s*** that shreds your armor. The mages. And the boss fights were pretty lackluster I felt. The only ones I felt were challenging were Ruin Sentinel, Royal Rat Authority, Old Dragonslayer and Pursuer (only the first time though).
Also, not sure if this is my fault or a problem with the games design but pretty frequently I would finish an area and have no idea where to go or what to do. I kept having to pull up the wiki to find new areas and how to get there. I never had that problem with DS3 and it made it feel like I was constantly backtracking and going through the same areas. I was able to find every boss (even the optional ones) on my own in DS3. Looking at the boss list for the base game, I missed 7 in DS2 (technically 8 though since I didn't get the true ending).
It sounds like a lot of negatives but I still did enjoy my time. There were really only a few moments in my 23 hours where I actually felt frustrated.
Haven't done the DLC, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna. I have DS1 to play still and also Bloodborne.

definitely play the DLC, it’s the best part of DS2
