Is Brendan Fraser’s performance worthy of all the accolades?
Also I know a lot of talk is based around just his performance, how was the supporting cast or the cinematography?
He does a really good job, you can tell he’s giving it his all. The thing holding it back is some of the corny dialogue at times.
And supporting cast is good too. Especially Sadie Sink and Hong Chau.
Cinematography is simple but effective. Lot of really interesting shots and camera movements that I liked.
Correct me if I’m wrong: movie is about a guy that loses his wife then gains weight up to 600lbs then tries to rekindle with lost family?
What’s missing without major spoilers
Yea that’s the gist of it.
Basically what’s going to happen to @The_man2 in a few years
Rt me @Keepthereceipt
I’ve read a lot of reviews saying the movie was fat phobic but I really didn’t get that from the movie. There are some tough scenes to watch but they have purpose. You can tell that Fraser really is able to connect with the character he is playing and convey Charlie honestly and with heart.
just watched The Wrestler for the first time (which I think is the better film) and damn! I think i might be an Aronofsky fan

Damn you late homie. Great film
Haven’t seen the whale yet but it seems like he was going more the route of the wrestler vs something like black swan or mother

oh yea it's def not black swan or mother vibes. similar to the wrestler in a lot of ways.

Yeah I could tell by the whole “father tryna make things right with his daughter” story
Just got out, I really enjoyed it. While I’m not surprised Brendan is getting so much love, deservingly so with how much vulnerability his performance brings, I’m actually quite surprised by the supporting cast. Almost everyone is delivering incredible performances, Hong Chau in my opinion stood out just as much as Brendan. I can understand the story or dialogue leading to lower review scores as it can feel almost preachy, and the tone throughout is very pessimistic, but I think the positives definitely outweigh its negatives.

Idk how to spoiler, but he's already done something similar to this in a different show and he killed that So I assume he also killed his role in this.

I was just gon say in Doom Patrol Brendan's character also reconnects with his daughter after like 30 years, and he does a great performance.

Pay attention when you watch this film cause this is what will happen to you if you keep up eating those McRibs as much as you do

wholeheartedly agree.
tremendous amount of emotional heft on the part of the cast, helped salve over some dialogue and story.
have to run this back as a double feature with The Wrestler at some point.
