Magnolia I found overlong and didn't have emotional investment into, there are some funny parts but decidedly not for me

i can see it especially since everyone rly puts in work wrt the performances, but the single setting and theatre play structure carry this staged play energy imo and the writing feeds into it by going to these extreme lengths with charlie and his daughter's characters which made them feel more like symbols (and ofc there's a symbolical side to their relationship)
