"if they're black it's a gang, if they're Italians it's a mob, but if they're Jewish... it's a coincidence and you should never speak about it."
goated line
Timing on this just too perfect only Chappelle couldn't lighten this situation up just a little

People are not lightened up lol

that s*** was scary, only he could get away with that one
The fact he got away with it at all fake outrage go brazy
Look I don’t know how to properly word my feelings here but I’m gonna try. I’m Jewish too if that means anything lmao
But am I wrong for kinda wanting to defend ye after seeing this? Like it really felt like there’s no way to take what he said other than “Cmon ye, we all know you’re speaking the truth. But ya gotta suck it up, apologize and keep fighting”
And he got SNL applauses for all of it. Why is it ok for Chappelle to do it but not ye? I really don’t see much difference in the core message of what ye has been saying and what Chappelle just did

Ye is a bad communicator especially when he’s going through an episode. He can be justified in certain feelings and lines of thought, but he uses antisemitic tropes to get there.

I’m Jewish too and agree with ye’s overall msg but he as has been the case his whole career, cannot word anything properly or even 1/10th the ability of Dave Chappelle

You’re absolutely right…I’m sayin Chappelle used antisemetic tropes as well though, just thinly veiled by comedy, and got a big applause for all of it. I’m just truly confused as to why. Does the audience think since snl is platforming it that it’s “safe”?

Because Chappelle is a comedian so it should be taken with grain of salt and it isn’t a serious commentary on Jewish Contacts.
Also Ye was teetering on Holocaust denial and is saying we are the real Jews.
Dave is making the observation that there’s a lot of Jews in Hollywood and some do hold power. He didn’t attack or go after Jews. Ye was on the Offensive.

the opening skit showed how silly the "road to redemption" is if anything. He should be 100% held accountable for his antisemitism, but as dave joked, legit all people want is an apology lol, which imo if we are supposed to and going to hold him accountable, there needs to be much more than an apology. what that road to redemption would be idk but. i guess the 1.5 billion in lost value is enough "punishment" as is so maybe an apology is all that is needed idk

thank you for putting it that way, i totally get you and chappelle's monologue does make more sense to me now at least
I guess im just still put-off by how ok the crowd was with applauding him when they're surely all furious (fake fury or not) at ye

i did see a few journalists call chappelle's speech normalization of anti-semitism but i think generally he's much more subtle and didn't come right off the bat with "deathcon 3"
chappelle simply implies that there are a lot of jews in hollywood in power and you can't say anything about it, where as kanye goes even deeper into saying that these jewish business people are exploiting black trauma for monetary gains
Damn I didn’t realize this was viewed as controversial
I thought Dave was coming out unscathed

I mean just Chappelle being on SNL was controversial for some before he even said a word

I’m sorry man but did you even watch this whole monologue? He literally disagrees with everything Kanye has said about Jewish people minus there are a high number of Jewish people in Hollywood.
There is no conspiracy and you should know better.
