DC want the Marvel universe payoffs without investing the time and effort into building it with good and meaningful films

They were already 4 years behind when Captain America dropped, but instead of wrapping up TDKR and getting straight to it, they f***ed around with garbage no one wanted for a decade and now have nothing to show for it

I also think the Marvel first mover advantage is underrated. There are only so many comic book films people will see and DC, whilst always being able to grind out solid box office numbers, faces a real challenge selling their films to casual punters who are way more familiar with and trusting of the Marvel brand

It showed him the their similarities rather than difference.

The same humanity that Bruce had started lacking in that movie. It reminded himself how far he himself had fallen.

The movie did a poor job of showing the strong influence of that humanity that Martha had on Bruce though.

Visits his parents grave once and has a nightmare sequence after.

Hey if we’re not shown that Clark found out Bruce’s mother’s name was Martha, that’s on the filmmakers and our assumptions don’t count. So Clark didn’t know beforehand.

One can appreciate Snyder’s goal to have Batman find humanity in Superman, but the way that goal was achieved was illogical and goofy because:

• if Superman doesn’t even know Batman’s mother’s name is Martha, for all he knows that would just be a random person to Batman, so why would Superman be stupid enough to think saying some random woman’s name would save him? Thank god they just so happened to have the same name cause if not...it could’ve been a cold day for Superman
• why wouldn’t Superman just say “we need to save my mother”? That should appeal to anyone’s humanity just as much as saying Martha. But Snyder wanted to point out their mother’s had the same name so bad he didn’t think about the logic of it
• if the film showed that Clark found out/realized he and Bruce’s moms had the same name, the Martha moment would have been a payoff because it would have shown Clark mindfucking Bruce to snap out of trying to murder someone by saying “we need to save Martha”

Now let’s be clear, any filmmaker pointing out that Batman and Superman’s moms have the same name in such a serious movie is goofy regardless of how it’s done and only works in comedy. But there was a way to go about it, and BvS’s way was not it
