cadence also means vocal inflection dont it
so a deadpan cadence would make sense, or is that first definition of cadence not applicable when it comes to music
Dawg I really don’t know I had to look up deadpan to begin with lol
I still to this day don’t know what offbeat rapping is. I’ve heard all kinds of interesting pockets from Jay, MF DOOM, E-40 where they rap behind the beat and not in the traditional for measures (rhyming precisely on the snare.) Guru did this as well. Is that not offbeat? There was also that flow rappers used in the 90s where they sped up and slowed down throughout the bar. I lack the musical language to explain it but if you’ve listened to any 90s West Coast stuff you’ve heard it
Bizarre from D12 and Masta Killa may have been pioneers of the deadpan delivery as well. Erick Sermon also comes to mind. I’m listening to You Gots to Chill rn, it sounds like he’s not even trying
E-40 I didn’t even think of him
I would consider his flow kinda off beat
But maybe a better word for these could be Freeform?

Freefrom may be a good term for it, since the flows are loose and divergent from the norm. Curren$y is another example
If anyone has knowledge of the technical aspects of rapping I’d love to a better explanation of this phenomenon
Don’t forget
valee deserves to be bigger than he is, shame really
don't know why @op didn't just say offbeat.
deadpan literally does not mean that, yall gotta learn up yall vocabulary fam.
Lol chill. I know what each of these things mean, but im grouping them into the same category. Rx Papi's sound is literally a deadpan cadene and delivery. He's on tempo in a lot of his songs
Yall really go into KTT threads where people be sharing music and opening discussion to hate on syntax

Yea you namedropped a lot of the OGs to do this s***. When I made the thread title I specifically didnt want to write offbeat because it's not always off tempo. It's more about the deadpan delivery or just the flow being different from what you expect
Chains look stupid as s*** like Lil Kim
bro i’m tryna find the original video
its called the rhythmically dynamic flow op
Wow damn so sorry for getting this wrong fam. Here take your updated thread title
