do you have any big thoughts on this new one yet?

I’m liking it the more I listen, it’s not as ambitious as the original Black Metal and doesn’t have a clear concept like The Redeemer or The Narcissist II, but he’s playing to his strengths. These are some of his most graceful string arrangements and overall production, his chemistry with Joanne is great as well. The runtime seems perfect for what he’s going for here. Feels like he pulled one last trick out of his hat, subverting expectations once again.

the lush strings gotta be courtesy of mica
to me it's more of a continuation of the wahalla sound, don't wanna sound too almighty but i think it's a real rebuke of post-black metal fans who never understood the sincerity in the first place

The involvement of Mica and Kwake Bass is great, i’m glad they were part of the album. Your last point makes sense tbh, I can see that.
i really enjoy black metal 2, havent formed my final opinion but its one of my faves this year

that's the same I got on Tidal too
in one of his 2 most recent interviews he mentions it :
I'd love to know which one, did some googling and couldn't find anything about this :I
tbh after taking my time with the record and having my fair share of racist encounters with cacs on the street while listening to this with my yt gf it’s safe 2 say that this is not only album of the year thus far but it’s time that dean is recognized as the artist he is
none of this is games and i’m tired of ppl selling it as some trick
black metal series and soul on fire and redeemer are enough to solidify him tbh. that’s ignoring so many other great releases. but this guy seriously is gonna be remembered bc i don’t think he’s getting his props now
also confident in saying dash snow is my fav dean blunt song of all time lol
Joanne Robertson took that s*** to heaven
love that track!

My favorite album this year by a lot. It helps that it’s so concise
