never heard a single Dean Blunt song in my life beofre this project, but i've always been aware of him
I enjoyed this album, but nothing stood out outside of the instrumentals (if he produces all his own stuff then I understand the hype)
the best parts were when someone else was singing over the beats, or when he was singing instead of rapping (I really loved 'the rot')
I'm still interested in checking out his other music, but i'm not a fan of his rapping on this
you should listen to the original black metal
I’d say this feels like it’s on par with black metal honestly, but it only just came out, maybe doesn’t have ‘edge’ but has its own magnetism
the emotion on tracks like LUSH, 100, and 50 CENT edges the original out
this is my second favorite of his regardless

I agree but I think I might end spinning this more

It’s not rapping really.. I can’t think of a great comparison but I guess it’s kinda like a less structured version of what Lou Reed does I suppose, borders on spoken word at times

Yeah i regreted writing "rapping" as soon as i posted, but couldnt be bothered to go back and correct
I like the way you described it tho

He does have some hip hop stuff tho, his Babyfather alias is full-fledged hip hop and he sprinkled it in on his past projects.
Really hope he does some sort of interview talking about the album and its relation to the first one.
god i wish, his past interviews are so good but he hasn't done one in 5+ years, can't see him doing another tbh
not huge on this tbh, as a massive dean fan
good to see others getting something out of it tho
will do full-fledged thoughts in a bit

his singing is deadpan, that’s all it is. definitely not rapping by any means
this is the first time he's sung in that southern-ish accent since black metal right? (vigil)

soul on fire iirc
soul on fire iirc
nah soul on fire was all his proper english accent, i'm talking abt the american inflection that he puts on on redeemer/stone island/narcissist/most of black metal
feels like his most personal release to date. hopeless/hopeful, lots of thoughts but 'WOOSAH' takes me to that mark hollis solo album
