I think death isn't talked about in America because people don't want to think about the fact that maybe a lot of their materialistic core values aren't as great as society makes it seem. the American Dream is basically financial freedom and having enough money to live a life of excess. its like that Hov bar, "you know the price of everything but the Value of nothing". ironic coming from a former crack dealer and current billionaire, but he's kinda got a point.
& I think a certain amount of fearing death comes from growing up with the belief of a Heaven and a Hell.
