I didn't compare it to the 90's I said its one of the best years since. and as far as "mainstream" goes you're right. but look at descendants of cain, alfredo, pray for paris, the price of tea in china, kings disease, miles etc. all absolute top tier releases and the years still not up. my top 10 this year hold up to pretty much any year in the 00's and 10's

I think Griselda doing a cool job,Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher are great rappers for this era. Freddie Gibbs a great rapper period. I think Griselda is really limited cause that Grimy production style they use has been done better imo.

Covert Coupe and No Idols still top any Griselda project imo production wise and that’s just off the top of my head. Also,I feel like Alchemist is feeling the affects of streaming also till the point he had to switch his style up. His beats use to be more menacing and interesting, now they always feel either boring or feel like it’s missing something but their never just outright bad.

Idk,rap is just ok to me in 2020,it’s like Velvetta Macaroni,it’s macaroni in its most basic and blasé form.

There’s no point in giving away royalty free music when you’re getting violated on every song you put out now. May as well make what little you can.

I’ve never really f***ed Witt freestyles over other people’s beats tbh, the sample thing on new tracks is a pain in the ass, but there has been so much good music this year that I don’t think it’s a massive issue. 2020 one of the best years for rap music since the 90’s

Artists had the power to completely shut down the run of a song by remixing it. Rappers today are too soft to experience that.

I actually like the direction alchemists production has gone in. And as far as Griselda, it may have been done before but they are, or at least have been up to this year very consistent. Having said that, in 2020 P4P is the only project from them I’ve f***ed with heavily? How u feel about ka’s new project? You can’t not think that’s good if you appreciate old school hiphop

King's Disease, Alfredo, Descendants of Cain, The Outrunners, Miles, Purple Moonlight Pages, The Prince of Tea in China, As God Intended, Shrines, RTJ4, Innocent Country 2, Pray for Paris, Manger On McNichols, A Written Testimony, Dueling Experts, No One Mourns The Wicked, Meet the Woo 2, Adjust to the Game, Circles, etc.

heard a few of these definitely some of the highlights of the year need catch up on a few of these though going use this as a list to catch up ill hit u in a few months when get thru em

Yes,Griselda is at least consistent and doesn’t bomb with their style. I f*** with Benny The Butcher heavy. I need to listen to that KA album btw,ima try and give more artist attention.

They were goated from around 2006-2015 and then "commercial mixtapes" became a thing in 2016 which basiclly ended that era of sampling hit records/remixes and thereby made albums and tapes indistinguishable beyond marketting

A big part is changes to laws around samples too. Which sucks ass and killed certain careers like spark master tape before they even got a real chance to blow up

  • SEVEN CAR GARAGE

What albums/artists u got in mind? I think last 3 yeats have been awful
