No, you need to "appeal" to them because to you politics is nothing more than winning an election every 2-4 years and you have decided that the best way of doing so is to get these so called "moderate white people" to vote for whatever cause it is you support. so youll take something like defunding the police, and instead of standing on your principles and explaining it or whatever, youll water it down to make it palatable as if people are dumb as f*** or something

sure and i agree w/ that idea and think anyone in general would benefit from reading something that succinctly explains an idea that's muddled by its slogan. the problem is that most ppl won't do that and expecting them to just to understand a slogan that many will intuitively misinterpret from its actual meaning is too much work for a flashy slogan.

like i said to op, the slogan is marketing, and effective marketing isn't gonna require ppl to read a fair amt to understand. the slogan plays w/ ppls intuitive interpretation of "defund" in a counterproductive way

nah not all of a sudden, but as it is the slogan turns many away because they read the word "defund" and think oh ok no more funding for police, which isn't the same as reducing funding for the police n placing that elsewhere within the justice system

curious ppl may look into what that means cus they'll read "defund" and think "ok that seems a lil extreme..what's goin on here, n why?" -- n then they'll learn the ideas

but less curious and more wary ppl will read that n dismiss it bc the word defund carries a different connotation in most contexts except for how it's used in "defund the police". it's about gettin ur foot in the door -- "defund" isn't inviting to a lot of people unfamiliar with its use in that very specific and uncommon context; a different word could be more inviting, though it'd likely be less sharp and biting of a slogan
