Covid-19 is still out here, lol. People aren't eager to flock to the movies.
sure but once NY and Cali fully open up theaters, the US numbers will probably remain pretty good.
The whole point rly is that Tenet is going to be the main draw in theaters for about 8-10 weeks, so whenever people eventually get comfortable to go, Tenet will probably be the major movie they see.
regardless, I don't think WB sees a need to delay Tenet when its doing way f***ing better than Mulan lol. WW84 will probably do even better.
im not a big Greig Fraser fan really but he might redeem himself with Dune and Batman.
Or ill hate him to the max for ruining the look of two (potentially) great movies.
wish deakins just did every Denis project
tenet flopped?
I think it did okay tbh, and we can all say it did good but for WB, the projections were low, (And they considered the circumstances) and it’s still been underperforming and it’s being seen as a loss of money atm, they can keep it in theatres longer but it still isn’t projected to make its money back.
Although they are hoping for a surprise amount when LA and NY open for it.
But ofc they and us can both say it’s because of the pandemic, and it IS because of the pandemic, that s*** would’ve probably done amazing

the one thing I will give Fraser is that the Batman looks incredible visually from the trailer

he makes me nervous. just went through his log - there isnt a single movie I really like that he was cinematography on

Killing Them Softly, Let Me In, Zero Dark Thirty and Foxcatcher were visually p good-great imo
Even Rogue one tbh looked the best of the new Star Wars movies
I'd say only Vice kinda flat out sucked visually
its just that yeah, he's no where near one of the great DPs of our time like a Deakins or Khondji or Elswit (who frankly is the better version of him) or Hoyte

just went through his films, rogue one is his best looking film, scary
Imax for this
Imax or nothing for me.
refuse to watch this in anything else

luxury of living in toronto is we have arguably best theater experience of any city...personally I like just doing 70MM instead of imax.
but 70MM+imax is next best. 70MM on its own is my preference tho.
S*** already got me doing that lil Knife salute Duncan and Paul were doing
Also I was wondering how they'd animate the personal shields, and I am not disappointed
yeah I still don't get how Tenet flopped lol. It is yet to open in a number of big markets and depending on how well it can retain its first week numbers, it could end up making back its money just through the theatrical run (and probably make well more once it hits home release)
If WW gets pushed to December, it basically means WB wasn’t happy with the Tenet numbers.
Hopefully they don’t push WW to December.
I watched the trailer before Tenet. Was pretty tense and slow. Pretty much no chance it's on BR2049's level, but Denis is a consistent creator.
yeah tbh Fraser actually has a solid filmog as a DP
hopefully this looks better once the film is out
