Movies get sequels to make more money not because the film is good

I'm not interested in the ratings of a film on a site where films I think are bad are highly rated and vice versa. Ratings being bad or not as good as expected doesn't necessarily mean that the film will be bad or not so good.
In Dune's case though I'm hoping it does well enough for 2nd part to be made to finish the story, the rest are irrelevent to me. Does that make sense?

You asked why I care. I gave you an answer. No one is saying RT is the end all be all, there’s plenty of movies rated high that was meh to me, and vise versa but for the most part their reviews seem to align with my personal opinion.

Ppl come on KTT and read reviews all day long but then act like reading reviews from professionals is out the norm.

Yeah you’re spot on. Also RT is just an aggregator, it’s not “deciding” anything on its own it’s just an average of what all professional critics are saying. There’s some critics whose viewpoints I really enjoy and those are the ones I usually come back to.
