I like his bangers too, but I also like when he’s versatile as well.

I think he does both well.

That’s why he does both tho

I’ve seen some people in here happy that he’s just making Bangers, and that’s great and all. But it does come off a bit one dimensional. And I get it, this project is for the people that really love that Memphis sound, and where Denzel started. But for me, it’s like he’s not that artist anymore and he’s grown and progressed since.

And I’m sorry for the day 1s that don’t really like when he artistically ventures into something different. But Melt My Eyez is his best album to me. If you look at this album as a side project after thiat ambitious effort, then it’s cool. It’s not bad in that context at all. If you look at it as his next big follow-up, yeah, it’s disappointing.

But I don’t think that was Denzel’s intention with this album. I think he just wanted to give the people who strictly like him for his hype s***, some bangers to chew on. And next album will be the true follow up to Melt My Eyez.

Kinda lame that you devolve this into a "not as artistic" pocket just because it's hard Florida/Memphis sound lol

This is more than "just bangers"

    Same

What really stands out to me on that project versus the rest of his is that the hooks are absolutely on point for some reason

I’ve spun this 2-3 times and it’s not really. This is just a project full of bangers with a ton of features. Nothing more, nothing less. He did a “back to basics” album.

Does that make it inherently not artistic? No that’s not what I said at all. He’s still a music artist and it’s something he’s created, that is artistic in itself. It just clearly wasn’t his goal to make something in an “artsy” vein, as it was with some of his previous work.

It’s a step back from Melt My Eyez because it’s one dimensional in comparison. You get 15 tracks (a few interludes included) of the same type of Memphis/Florida production throughout the entire album. For someone who really appreciated that he had something to say on Melt My Eyez and showed out with a variety of different sounds within the same album, yeah it’s disheartening. It gets repetitive by the end.

There’s still a few tracks on here I like though. Set It, G’z Up and Hit The Floor were all added to my playlist.
