anyone have a good resume template
Look at all the designer templates to get an idea
thinking of finding a graduate program in UX, would you guys recommend it?
right now I do a lot of graphic design/3D animation

gonna be hard pressed to get a job without a relevant degree imo
like its certainly possible but its harder
masters will make you 10000% more competitive than anyone
Bad lol, but it might just be my area
damn lol, i'm in ny area and it's p good here
@op Thanks for this thread. Gonna go hard with my traditional art skills and web design for this year when I start freelancing.
cool, definitely some great stuff in here
especially love the lawsofux.com within the degreelessdesign website one cause they link articles
but at the same time i feel like design is so aestheticized and all the articles and s*** just talk about effectively nothing
I feel like after the introduction lessons in graphic design, there isn't much to learn except specific skills that'll improve your aesthetics.
I've seen guys run through the technical side of graphic design to only still make boring and ugly s***.
You need to mix a lot of other subjects in to craft a workflow

Are master's really worth it in the long run? It kind of makes me sick to look at the tuition prices and going back for another 2 years or more if you are already working.

are you talking about product design or graphic design; completely different areas
product design/ ux you probably need a bachelors, masters insanely helps if youre going into research.. idk anything about graphic design
Yeah, agreed.
Not really, I just follow some cool designers.

I don't work in the industry, but interested in getting into it possibly
This is a good list, met Brian when I was contracting for Facebook a few years ago
asking for a friend.....
how wld yall go into the ui/ux design rn?
if u dont have a degree in anything relevant
for dev jobs i know its like... if u dont have a cs degree, arent like ranking globally in comps, dont have at minimum a good bootcamp under your belt, or dont plan on ultra grinding starting from minor tech certs.... it is impossible
for design, would bootcamps be a similar necessity?
or just have a good portfolio and side project record enough?

it's really similar to dev ... barrier of entry is extremely high, no one is hiring for juniors now (if ever).
you don't necessarily need a relevant degree, but you really need to make connections and have a very very strong portfolio to get in the industry as a junior

Porktown myspace thank you so much for entering my thread ur the GOAT
Looking into UX Design and started learning Adobe XD.
But i'm doing a undergrad on the side so can't afford doing a certificate or bootcamp part time. Where should I start? Building a portfolio or just learning more via YouTube tutorials?

What’s your undergrad major
Tbh there’s so many ppl who transition to UXD u just need a bachelors in anything (preferably psychology/anthropology/ design/ cs) and also a portfolio
Look up Design buddies on discord and join the group chat there’s like 30k ppl in there there’s a channel called “volunteering” and u can make a project with people. Include that in ur portfolio
Good thing that ur in school rn. U can easily secure an internship after a few months of work and a decent portfolio

Communication and Media Studies. Im 26 and work full time as a qa a***yst and i've done graphic design stuff. So i know HTML/CSS, etc. I know how to use most of the Adobe products already since i've done it for my music etc.
I'll look into that Discord. Is there anything learning wise you recommend?

Just learn the design process, that’s basically it
Being proficient in Figma and having the ability to make pretty wireframes while following a design process and showing this thru a portfolio will get you a job
There’s not really that much to design imo. Just listen to your users and design s*** they want. Probably easier said than done but the entire thing is predicated on user research
