Ppl vastly underestimate the amount of power and leverage the black bourgeois have in America

Even “billionaires” in the likes of Jay and Kanye own only small percentages of whatever deals they own and such, they don’t actually have the mass of capital to build and compete with the horizontal and vertical level of integration that’s required at high levels of industry.

Even Kanye couldn’t just up and start mass producing Yeezys again at the same rate and quality as his Adidas deal once that fell through

At best they’re like managerial figures over the reproduction of capitalist relations it’s not the same as someone like Elon Musk or Bill Gates

Preaching. Rap fans especially massively overstate how much capital and pull that the richest rappers have

We're not asking Jay Z to build and separate, just to bot sabotage s*** for personal profit

  • This just in: Jay Z is a capitalist shill who has no moral standing aside from making money by any means

  • raps

    1. This is gonna be overblown because its Jay and it comes in the tradition of Brooklyn Nets gentrification and “We’re past kneeling” but nigga ain’t nobody really been sticking to that boycott lol and he’s far from the only artist or rapper to recently do this.

    2. It’s more egregious to me that the Jays Drakes Kanyes Ross Diddys etc haven’t created a black owned alternative to the big box stores so that we don’t need to boycott “their” stores in the first place

The Rick Ross Big Lots will do more harm than good in this world I’m afraid

  • Kojimbo

This is the most forced fake ass outrage I’ve seen

I don’t doubt target sucks but so does every corporation. I don’t believe anyone actually cares about this

The boycott died down months ago iirc.

  • Target too this nigga releasing exclusive target vinyls like a female. Ain’t this what Taylor swift and Olivia Rodrigo did

  • Hov is undisputedly a Cooler

  • Dorks say he ain’t a capitalist tho

  • Aisosa

    You're not getting me.

Has any rapper specifically made they s*** exclusive to Target after the boycott?

I know you'll think I'm hating because I very publicly dont like Jay Z (and I dont blame you), but this is off considering his history, man.

I just gave you an example of a mainstream rap artists with their vinyls sold at Target as an “exclusive” after the boycott lol niggas scrapin for anything. The boycott is not only calling for black people and “allies” to stop purchasing from Target but also for black entrepreneurs and business to avoid/pull their products from Target… I ain’t see niggas outraged about any of the other artists available.

Hate on Jay all you want, criticize him for his actions in business whether it’s based in truth or just rumors… but this instance in particular is a joke bruh lol niggas do not care fr

Nah, this is a very simplified way of looking at it. There’s a distinction between being indifferent and s***ting on a movement, and also partnering with the other side.

Jay basically did the latter. “We’re past kneeling and I’m working with the nfl.”

You can have your reservations on the merits of kneeling being performative, and whether Jay should even be critiqued about it, but it’s not just a nothing burger. He decided “yeah f*** that, I’m taking this opportunity with the nfl.” Which doesn’t really bother me, it’s par for the course for him.

I think niggas was more upset at that actual quote then him joining the NFL lol it was in bad taste fs. And I understand looking at the move sideways… but I don’t agree that Jay backdoored Kaep like some have pushed. Call Jay a pawn or whatever that’s fair. But people act as if he blackballed Kaep or that he has power in the NFL and that’s just not true. Them hiring Jay was just an attempt at “damage control”

But maybe I’m biased also because truthfully tho I respected he took a stance, I don’t regard it as such a movement as others might. I mean we were all happy he got paid.. but after that what was next? It was a whole bunch of niggas who didn’t stand in solidarity with him then and nothing changed. The NFL like all these other sport leagues just pander more now

#2 is exactly why we dont need black billionaires because the issue is a class issue lmao.

No such thing as an ethical billionaire/millionaire cause no one with ethics would do the grimy s*** you need to do to gain and hold on to that much capital

Billionaires I can see but you don’t think there are any ethical millionaires? I think it’s all circumstantial… niggas might have certain morals and ethics in some areas but also not give a f*** in others when it comes to their bag and gaining more capital.
