Someone name me a few Detroit artists I should give a listen to

    I’m behind

Yachty's new tape is a good starting point tbh

As for people who aren't on that you should definitely check out BandGang Lonnie Bands, Drego and Beno and Cash Kidd

I get it but detroit rap is the definition of "ur scaring the hoes". Its really good but it could never be the new Atlanta. No woman going to the club to shake ass to royce the 5'9 and rio da yung og. They goin for YSL & the others. Memphis is a better argument.

Now when Detroit producers start incorporating house/techno into their tracks? Thats gonna be a whole different convo.

Actually a lot of strip clubs play Detroit rap

Detriot doesn't have the media infrastructure that Atlanta, NYC, and LA have to be a hip hop mecca. But their sound is definitely gaining traction recently.

And to be honest, Memphis is closer to being the new Atlanta as far as similarities in sound and music buzzing.

Too early to say s*** like that, but I know what you mean. It’s slowly making a name for itself again in current music.

Still has to compete with Florida, North Carolina & Memphis though

Places like Atlanta/Toronto/LA are in leagues of their own unfortunately, and it’s been like that for a minute.

Drake stans always bringing up Toronto

Nah actually from here, too many of our “about to blow up” artists get killed in gun violence - but it’s slowly getting better.

If we list all the top A-listers from Toronto/the province of Ontario, it’d s*** on every state in the U.S, no offence.

The only time I ever felt like Toronto had any buzz that could’ve crossed over, was in 2015 during the IYRTITL era.

sigh Here we go. Just know I love Atl music the most after Toronto/Ontario.

All these artists are either from Toronto, it’s general area - or it’s province of Ontario (equivalent of a “state” in Canada):

Top-tier: Drake, Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Nav, Tory Lanez, PND, Roy Woods, Night Lovell, Belly.

New school: KILLY, Pressa, NorthSideBenji, Lil Berete, Duvy, Puffy L’z.

ATL/Florida artists the ones I like most from the US.

will check out the new school list rn

though i will say i'd reconsider listing tory as i think he's already peaked musically + the whole going independent & allegedly shooting the biggest female rapper of last year
