Beautiful movie. Reclaiming Hanuman to fight against Hindutva. Hijra scenes. Very powerful
Wish they didn't half-ass change the extremist flags from saffron to red lol
Damn this was in theaters for like 7 mins and already on streaming. Good cuz I didnt get a chance to make it to a theater to see it but at least they were able to get it in theaters at all.
The first 30 or so minutes I was like "This is aight" then the movie just LOCKS IN at the 40 minute mark and stays hard as bricks for the rest of the runtime
Banger
it was alright and had some fresh India inspired ideas that worked baked into an action film. but it got way too similar to John Wick by the end... from the black suit, to the night club/neon drenched setting etc. it kept pulling me out of the film.
i also wish the Hanuman mythology and that red powder stuff was explored more. maybe there is a supernatural angle to this movie that it missed.
kinda wished they did more of that boxing s*** while tying it in with the monkey man / hamuman imagery because a good portion of this just ends up being a john wick clone
still a cool watch but i kinda expected more out of it
I’m in the it was alright boat. Maybe it’s because I watched while I was tired and wasn’t expecting it to be as deep as it was.
The pros are the action choreography, Dev’s acting, the India setting and religious groups was enough to distinguish it from a John Wick clone. I kinda felt like it was more similar to Green Knight in pace. Also it was shot well for the most part. Really pretty to look at
My main complaints are the overuse of close ups. Some were great shots some were unnecessary. And the story isn’t focused enough.
The sidekick disappears in the second half I wondered what was the point of even having him be outed as an accomplice. He showed up to the boxing match but didn’t do anything. Also the escort seemed useless too I think she was there to remind him of his mother but his whole motivation has been his mother so I don’t know if it was needed. The constant news clips of the political events went over my head if they were meant to tie into the plot
Lastly, that training montage lasted way too long. It actually ended and then started again
